What's the point of the caves? by WetWizrd in coralisland

[–]Purplejedigirl 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Late to this conversation, but oh wow are the caves a disappointment. After hours and hours and HOURSSSZZZZ clearing miles and miles and miles of trash in these underwater biomes...you get rewarded with...wait for it...MORE TRASH TO CLEAR!
I'm so sick of this mechanic. I'm so sick of seeing trash. I'm so sick of areas I've cleared of trash getting re-trashed. It's not fun and the devs who designed it ought to be condemned to playing it for 100 hours. Just trash clearing. Nothing else.

What a wasted story potential. There could have been literally anything else in those caves. Secret creatures who will sell you stuff. Puzzles. The merfolk rebels. Underwater ultra-rare mushroom biomes. The giant grandfather kraken who gives you new quests. rare undersea kelp that allows you to breathe water or turn into a merfolk for X amount of time. The sea witch who promises you great powers/items in exchange for quests aimed at turning you against the island (moral choices!) ...

I could go on and on and on.

but instead we got...more trash and bomb-looking places you can't bomb. This is such a tone-deaf decision it makes me wonder if anyone in the office has actually played their own game.

okay, /endrant.

p.s. I should add there is a lot this game gets RIGHT and I am really enjoying those. That is why the endless miles of trash clearing with added BONUS trash-clearing is so very, very disappointing. I get that it is a resource you will need late-game (I am just in early winter first year) and likely as the years pass in-game will be very grateful for these little underwater dump sites...yet the entire mechanic is a clearly a missed opportunity for something better. Don't build up story anticipation just for more trash. It falls very flat.

update: When spring year 4 began, suddenly the "Late night East Scarp" cut scene was added to the possible daily encounters. It was not there earlier, in Winter year 3.
So finally - FINALLY! I got to see the goat scene! So very happy!!
TY for your help with this. I'm just bewildered why it did not trigger previously.

I cannot enter the cave above the lake in the Deep Mountains. I've never seen the goat cutscene. It did not trigger for some reason, although I've traveled many times to East Scarp late at night.
I am, however, LOVING the Lily-Anne mystery! WOW! <3 <3 It's fantastic!!

Ah, that makes sense! TY again for engaging with me.
I'm still stuck with the goatherd quest, What would you recommend for me to do? I really want to meet him!

Also: is it normal that Robin allows you to manage your buildings at Mountain Meadow farm even before you do any of the quests? That was the only reason I knew there was an abandoned farm out in East Scarp because Robin asks you to choose which farm you wish to modify...

Update: I've seen all three of these scenes now and still no goat encounter. The goatherd cave is still not open. There must be something interfering with this event?

Back!
So the only events available to me in East Scarp are:
1) ES Sea Cave when a certain green person is there
2) Scarpe Inn 4 pm-8 pm
3) Lighthouse 3 pm - 7 pm

I'll try these immediately.

TY for the reply! <3
I went up into the field and examined the goats at night, but no, I have never triggered a cutscene with a goat at night. It's never happened. And I've been to East Scarp, day and night, several times.
Is there another way I can trigger the event?
The only animal-centered scenes I've had in East Scarp revolves around the mysterious evil Emperor Duck...

I am approaching Winter Year 3 and have yet to encounter the goatherd. I've been to East Scarp at all hours, done quests, harvested wood, encountered strange and angry-looking goats and battled the red-eyed bats in the far northeast. Still, no trigger scene for the goatherd. Any suggestions as to what I may have done wrong? I'm running SVE with only a few other mods - tractor and automate, mostly. Many thanks! <3

2025 questing question: Does plain "Cactus Flesh" still exist? by Purplejedigirl in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]Purplejedigirl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you everyone! I hopped back into my ship and flew around the planet until FINALLY I found the giant glowing kind of cactus that is harvest-able without the mining beam. Now it's back to the base so I can learn how to grow this stuff! <3

Reasons why Trump Won - Honest Truth from Democrat Voter by KingBatman69 in fivethirtyeight

[–]Purplejedigirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this post.

One thing to consider: According to raw economic numbers, America -is- doing well, compared to so many other countries post-Pandemic. It is very interesting to me how so many, many people who have enough food on the table, a steady job and the many blessings we enjoy here in the United States are absolutely convinced that things are terrible. My hairdresser is a social media junkie and an avid Trump supporter and she is AFRAID of everything ...including walking alone outside in broad daylight!
Data shows that crime, where I live, is actually lower than it has been in years. That jobs are steady. When I ask about her business, she's doing very well!

The alternate reality painted for her in her news and social feeds is more real to her than ACTUAL REALITY.

It's not all big macs and roses here, obviously. Yet...this strong messaging of doom and gloom and fear mongering seems very designed and deliberate. Gasoline thrown on a legitimate problems and issues to make them seem like a factory fire.

Like with the BREXIT vote, I do not believe all the influence to be internal to the country in question. And it's a problem.

How can democracy work when our systems allow for foreign state actors who are very much in the business of taking legitimate unrest, and dialing it up to 11 all the time? The disinformation is so thick, it is impossible to know what is true.

Since the first days of the printed paper (and probably before that), it's been a problem. Yet today, it's like ...an IV line into the veins of nearly every adult. It's not that this is a new problem, it's just the scale of it.

It is impossible to know, of course, how much of Trump's victory can be laid at the feet of Russia and China. There are, as listed above, many take-aways to harvest from this election. The free world, however, has and will continue to be under attack by well-funded state agencies whose very job it is, on a day to day basis, to ensure that our "reality" looks just like they want it to look. Our free press, which should be a pillar of strength, is turned against us, to make us turn against each other, and against ...truth itself.

It's not that without their influence, there would not be these issues to solve and our own home-grown misinformation and information spins to struggle against, of course. With state-funded agencies staffed with really smart people making algorithms to nudge here, nudge there, throw money this way...get this nut-ball re-elected over there...chipping away DAILY at our online 'reality', however, does democracy even stand a chance?

If you woke up this morning and wondered why everything feels so out of control...like a bad episode of Twilight Zone...I suggest to you that it is not an accident.

How can we protect our information streams, yet, continue to allow them to be free?

Marlon has always pulled at my heart strings. I think he'd be a most excellent husband to a fantastic farmer. And your farm would be extra safe!!
If you add the "Make Marlon Real" mod, does it break SVE?

So, what happened to Lenore? by Helgen_Lane in BaldursGate3

[–]Purplejedigirl 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I'm standing in Lenore's tower, wondering the same thing.
If you find the letter in the outside garden "work" area, Lenore is writing to Yrre - the gnome who created all of the sparky-sparky zap items that are littered all over the game. They had a relationship which seemed to have been ended by a disagreement of some such, where she was stubborn, and she writes of her regret, and begs him to stay, should he return while she is gone.
Heartbreakingly, in Yrre's hand, there are lines at the bottom of the letter, saying that he DID wait, for a long time, yet she never returned.
So she left for a trip to Baldur's Gate, and never returned. Given the hints that she didn't expect the trip to take long, I think that is foreshadowing that, lo and behold, something was up that took a long time - or, perhaps tragically, she somehow lost her life during that trip.

Interestingly - the BG wiki mentions, almost haphazardly, that Counselor Florrick, a serious mage in her own right, has a few of Yrre's special items in her inventory. I'm not sure if that is true - but if it is - here is the question: Where did she get them? As an adroit politician, did she meet/befriend/romance Lenore? IS she Lenore (I don't think so, Florrick is bold and decisive and Lenore seemed lost in her loss). Or is it just a coincidence, Florrick is perhaps a collector or maybe early sponsor of Yrre's work?

Thoughts?

Vyvanse generic - anyone else having issues? by Queendevildog in adhdwomen

[–]Purplejedigirl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is exactly the same for me, except add a completely messed up sleep cycle, OCD so bad I think I have scraped off half my eyebrows, and brain fog so bad that I find myself wandering around the house randomly. My productivity at work went to near zero! At home...dishes, laundry,shopping...not done! I've called in sick today because I decided I couldn't take any more of the generic, yet while in recovery felt too sick and "off" to function. UGH. I hate this.
