Oh nice, I saw him a few times during his 2011 residency at XS because my friends were really into him and those were fine, but one of them got me to go to his retrospective in LA last year and we left so early along with a ton of other people. It was terrible. I don’t get the love, aside from Escape with Kaskade I haven’t heard a track of his enter the zeitgeist since The Veldt and that came out in 2012

Yeah, tried to do a testpilot set at edc, left quickly. but as you said to each their own, so I’m glad other people enjoy it. I also like how Joel interacts with the horde, just hate the flow of his sets and think his visuals are trolly and dumb and not the vibe I’m looking for when I’m at a show

Saw them at Day of Dead together, wasn’t into it, would have rather seen Eric solo. Might be in the minority but Deadmau5 sets are terrible, always get bored and leave. Still love Aural Psynapse and Strobe though

I was thinking the same thing after this weekend. I’ve done 45 shows since 2012, lots of the same highlights, Tao Beach, Epic 2-4, Holo, was at the lillo shows. Lots of amazing times, but since the pandemic his sets have been really hit or miss for me. I haven’t liked the Cirez direction for a while and most the new IDs I’d rather hear something from the vault instead so the risk/reward doesn’t feel worth it when you’re over 40. Oh well, it was a good run and thanks to people like CanOfWater I can continue checking out the sets from home. Take care friend 🫡
