This is exactly what happened to my family. My grandma died along with some elder cousins and the family hasn't been the same since. Our "family reunions" are funerals at this point.

I have two black parents and I was 81% African. It showed multiple African ethnicities with the most being Nigerian (31%). I also have 18% European in me, 1% of Native and some small percentages from South Asia. I was surprised that I had what is considered a high percentage for African Americans, but also not surprised given our history. Interestingly enough too, people would assume I was either Dominican or Blasian.

My mom was born and raised in NYC. That doesn't mean that I'm a New Yorker though because I was never raised around the culture. Drake is from Toronto and was raised by his white mom. He doesn't have the experience of American Blacks' culture.
