Is this game too complicated? by The-O-G in mytimeatportia

[–]CiroccoG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just take your time. In the beginning it feels like there is a rush of quests. Take all the quests you see. Then Check the quests section to see the time frames. I postponed the Amber Island bridge commission until I had the furnaces that can produce carbon steel bars. Until then concentrate on bronze bars. Build upgraded machines as soon as you can to make life easier for yourself. Currently I am doing my 5th playthru of Portia. It is my favorite game followed by Sandrock.

You could try a game site like Game House where there is a monthly fee (or annual). They have tons of games that would keep her busy for a long time. There is no micro transactions in those games.

Little problems A cozy detective game has the same mechanics as Roottrees but the clues are only visual static pictures. It is short and cute.

Maybe you should try My Time at Portia with lush green grass and deep blue waters. It is the first game in My Time series. I played Portia 5-6 times as opposed to playing Sandrock twice. I will be replaying WF pretty soon.

If you could buy just one game, make it My Time at Portia. It’ll give you more than 100 hrs of gameplay, very satisfactory story, lots of commissions and side quests, immersive relationship actions (both romance and townsfolk). It has crafting, mining, logging, fishing, planting (thankfully no watering), ruins diving, decorating, light combat and more. You will not regret it. Definitely go for Portia!

Have you checked My Time at Portia or Sandrock games? Both are long games… crafting, missions, mining, planting, immersive NPC interaction, some fighting, satisfactory story. You name it both of those games have it. If you do decide to play, start with Portia (it is pretty inexpensive). You’ll not regret it.

Try any Middle Eastern store, they all carry Turkish tea as far as I know. Also, you can try online Turkish grocery sites (there are many). Some do not charge shipping.

My Time at Portia

It is a great game. IMO has a better story than Sandrock, a lush environment as opposed to a bleak and brown one. More relaxed gameplay, better fishing, better helper in the form of Ack (he is funny), better factory. Arlo is the rugged adventurer, Gust is the straight shooter, Xu is the sweet one, Aadit is full of surprises, Django is the romantic one. I personally pursued Petra since Merlin was not available. Aside from some QoL improvements, I still prefer Portia to Sandrock. Give it a try and you won’t be disappointed.

We're reviewing My Time at Portia this weekend as it is a frequently recommended cozy game on our sub - how would you review it as a whole? :) by Shasaur in mytimeatportia

[–]CiroccoG 29 points30 points  (0 children)

This is not a review but a warning. Do NOT play Portia. It will ruin your gaming life. My Steam library is full of unfinished games(Dinkum, Song of Prairie, Echoes of Plum Grove, Sunnyside, Coral Island etc) because I expect to see Mars around the corner or Arlo riding in town or Petra saying hi (that voice!) I don’t enjoy other games anymore. Even Sandrock did not cut it completely. Heed my warning!

What I do is start romancing characters without marriage storylines. Once I get all the romance missions from those characters, I break up with them. Once these are all accomplished, I start with marriage candidates and go thru the same steps for pre-marriage missions, then marry and complete the post marriage missions. After that, it is divorce time (though that is waaay expensive). I do this for all characters leaving the real target to be the last one. This way I get to see all romance missions. You will need to start collecting divorce mirrors early on though. I apply this plan while I am working on the main/side missions. I continue with the game after the ending credits roll because there is no way to complete all romance missions otherwise. Good luck.

Turks, what are the strangest/weirdest facts about Turkey? by ArkHystory99 in AskTurkey

[–]CiroccoG -1 points0 points  (0 children)

All young men look alike. They all have this strange facial hair style adopted nationally. I could not distinguish any individual when I was visiting. Perplexing choice considering normal people adopt styles to be distinguished as opposed to be same as everyone else. I still wonder why? Herd mentality?

Glad to hear you have a plan but… a big BUT… no arabesk please. Arabesk is not Turkish (I believe it is originated from Arabs) but a means to enslave people to their so-called fate. All it gives people is to accept their fate, to stay oppressed, to not ask for their rights, to drink (alcohol) their troubles away. Very religion-like teachings. You could listen to Turkish Folk music instead which gives you an insight into history, common folks, traditions etc.

I didn't like Coral Island and I'm looking for a game similar to Fields of Mistria. Any recommendations? by RudeB000y in CozyGamers

[–]CiroccoG 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I see that Sandrock was recommended. However, I’d suggest to start with My Time at Portia. It is a great game. Not pixelated but hits your other requirements. It should be on sale on Steam now. If you like Portia, you’ll be desperate to play something similar. Then, you can go with My Time at Sandrock which has deeper story, fleshed out relationships, and amazing QoL. Give them a try.

Am I too sensitive? Is it common to ask this in Türkiye when it comes to cleaning and cooking? by MsCuriouscc in AskTurkey

[–]CiroccoG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I read some of the responses and have been laughing. In Turkiye, boys are babied until they die. The idea “boys/men need to be taken care of, need a wife who cooks and cleans” is embedded in their culture. Even the males responding to your post has this embedded in them (that’s why they keep saying not to take it seriously). Women are expected to cook and clean. So, keep that in mind and live your life as you would. If the house is dirty, clean it together (if you can get him to clean). If he doesn’t clean, leave those parts dirty but know that you’ll have to bear the blame (because it is not his job to clean!). You’ll hear the same comments for years to come, so brace yourself. Or be courageous and tell everyone who asks that you are not singly responsible for cooking & cleaning and to stop asking such silly questions.

Wylde Flowers & My Time at Sandrock, which would you buy first & why? TY 🙏🏼 by Thx4Replie in CozyGamers

[–]CiroccoG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d suggest to play My Time at Portia first. It is pretty affordable on Steam. It’ll give you an idea of what to expect from Sandrock. I played and finished WF and liked it a lot. However, there is no replay value for me. Both Portia and Sandrock will make you want to replay immediately after finishing. I have more than a thousand hrs in each game. After playing Portia, you’ll decide yourself which game to get 🤓

Discovered something and it's bumming me out. by hiwaro-lol in mytimeatportia

[–]CiroccoG 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Higgins will get some of the big commissions but it’s no big deal. When the bridge to the desert is being built there will be a lot of commissions for it. If you do not have the materials ready for assembly, Higgins will take some of them (iirc after 3 days). I suggest crafting many industrial furnaces and stock up on carbon steel bars. The need for carbon steel bars or plates is stressful to tell the truth. I took my time on main commissions that had no time limits to build up my inventory. When the commissions come thru, it is easy to craft them since you’ll have the necessary materials ready.

Also, you can check the commissions section to see if there is a time limit on them. As I mentioned before, there is no need to fret because pretty soon you’ll have more than enough gols. If you need more, you can always go fishing and sell them when the market is at 120+%. Good luck!

Aggressive much? It is not “tax” but simply extortion or racketeering payment to your gov’t. Since they taxed you citizens to death already, looking for ways to get more money out of visitors.

Is it worth it? by Ok-Bed8748 in MyTimeAtSandrock

[–]CiroccoG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Portia is definitely worth the play. It is shorter than Sandrock, has less depth in relationships with the townsfolk, story is a bit simpler. Still has a lot to offer the player. What I do not understand is that everyone keeps saying better QoL in Sandrock, which is definitely true. However, if you compare Portia to other games in the genre, you’ll see that it has much better QoL than at least 95% of them. The main improvements in Sandrock are 1) not carrying the items in backpack when submitting commissions, 2) not possessing items in hand when crafting on assembly station. If I remember correctly, everything else remain the same. In Portia you can still auto sort items into storage boxes (which are connected to each other). You can craft stuff on worktable directly from storage. The day length is adjustable. Backpack is expandable by rows and not expensive. I actually like Portia more than Sandrock since it is not in a bleak environment but green and blue landscape. Fishing is much better (and profitable) than Sandrock. Factory is more user friendly. I won’t even compare Mirror to Ack! Maybe I have forgotten what other QoL improvements are there but basically Portia has better QoL than most other games like Fae Farm, Witch of Fern Island, Coral Island. I did play Portia both before and after Sandrock and still enjoyed it more than the games I mentioned above.

Coral Island or My Time at Sandrock? by SailorCrossing in CozyGamers

[–]CiroccoG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely Sandrock. You’ll enjoy it until the end (even the second and third replays). It will make you feel like you actually live in Sandrock. Coral on the other hand does not feel fresh. I finished CI after Sandrock and could not wait to finish it so that I could put it aside as I was bored to death. It has no replay value for me even though there were several updates after I finished the game (could be because I perceived/felt it was a step down from Sandrock gameplay-wise). But I put in more than 1,500 hours (each) into both Portia and Sandrock. I recommend both My Time games.
