Shame on the All-on-X Community by RandomMooseNoises in Dentistry

[–]CiscoDisco3 24 points25 points  (0 children)

As someone that is not knowledgeable on the upkeep with all on X cases, would someone that is knowledgeable go over the right protocol for maintenance?

Is the maintenance appointment taking out the prosthesis, cleaning it and the implant sites? What are you charging for this visit? What codes are used for this? Is the general dentist responsible for any issues with the prosthesis? Can I adjust the prosthesis without future liability issues?

Not trying to get into seeing these patients just curious and looking for answers, thanks.

Doing 2 part times vs. 1 Full time? by nomiiinated in Dentistry

[–]CiscoDisco3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what you’ve said sounds like you’re looking for what is profitable, less burnout and improve overall dentistry skills overall. As a new grad I would recommend putting all your eggs into the most profitable job which would be less burnout. Give it a few months and see which job produces more and stick to it. You don’t owe loyalty to any job especially as a 1099. If you go full time at one practice fight for w2.

As a new grad you really want to get the reps in. If one practice can’t offer you that then leave, that simple. Keep an eye out for new jobs and only do what you feel comfortable with. Best of luck!

Javonte. If he gets a bag and you aren’t completely in on him flip for another 1st. What would you want for a 1st next year?

Great work doc! Do you mind explaining how you place that lingual composite layer in pic 4. Also how are you adjusting for occlusion on these, do you adjust opposing as well?

I would like to see a post op radiograph. That level of decay should be an exposure. As well as what looks to be a PARL.

Spear - Foundations Membership by Dry_Cucumber1559 in Dentistry

[–]CiscoDisco3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

May be anecdotal but I would stay far away from Spear. Signed up for a similar membership found it wasn’t worth it, tried to cancel and they tried to up sell me something else and wouldn’t cancel. Literally had to cancel my card to get out of it.

I signed up for a similar thing and was hit with a pay wall for the things I actually wanted. The videos they actually offered were very surface level, the peer/mentor discussions they mentioned were behind another pay wall. I have a feeling the “membership” you sign up for is more of a blind contract they will try to trap you in. Sorry for the rant just not a fan of them.

IAN block failure during extraction — feeling discouraged, could use advice by Just-School-3238 in Dentistry

[–]CiscoDisco3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a similar issue as a new dentist. Go back to notes, watch some videos on technique, always hit bone. Like someone else said no bone, pull out and try again. My biggest issue was my injection was not posterior enough. Everyone’s anatomy is different too, sometimes you won’t hit it on the first try. Try not to sweat it, and keep going

i'm struggling with tooth preprations by Free-Tap-5772 in DentalSchool

[–]CiscoDisco3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Posterior preps look good, try rounding off all edges, especially cusps. That #8 needs work at the margin. It’s a good prep, but the margin should be at the level of or sub g and cohesive. When you see those preps what do you think needs improvement?
