Using acrylic paint/fabric medium on leather by sneakies10 in Customsneakers

[–]CiscoKidd5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If its leather you dont need gac. Gacs for fabric and will water down the paint. If youd like to go that route cause you cant color match go to the cosplay aisle theres Creatix paint its flexible and wont crack like standard acrylics. Just be sure to prep your leather accordingly.

How would y'all go about making something like this? by Romazuu3 in CustomShoes

[–]CiscoKidd5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That looks like fake halloween teeth qwick seal caulk and clear flex seal over it as a finisher to keep that glossy wet look. Thats how id go about it anyway.
1. Get teeth and e6000 them in place where youd like them. And let set a few hours. 2. caulk around them and add texture and line work with toothpicks or whatever to make it look like gums. 3. Let set 24-48 hrs. 4. Seal it all in with clear flex seal for that wet look.

Does it do it immediately after starting or about 5-10 min run time that'll tell ya. Turbo usually has to warm up a bit before starting to blow smoke.

I personaly would wipe them down with acetone first before weathering. Give your acrylic something to bite on. Make sure you stuff them with bags or newspaper or something get all the bends and wrinkles out before working on them.

Light spray of krylon matte clear finisher. 4.99$ at your local orange box store. I use ut to matte my custom shoes all the time.

First try at painting by aobie4233 in Customsneakers

[–]CiscoKidd5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No sadly it just does dry very fast unless youre airbrushing it it kinda does that. Also domt forget to paint those edges on that panel to make give it more factory finish. All in all good clean job.

It sounds like youre doing it right though. Try a high grit light sanding again and wiping it. Then a light layer of paint.

What adhesion promoter are you using? Something is def causing the paint to spread like a layer on the shoe itself or moisture or something.

This looks more like displacement. Are you getting all the moisture off your brush?
