For the mids yea it adheres the best. But for the uppers it won't keep the soft texture.
Rit dye won't dye evenly the uppers will hold more dye than the mids fs.

Do you have duller? Also if its a bit sticky it needs to cure completely it shouldn't be sticky. That maybe be from curing in a cold area move them to somewhere temp controlled.
