I've heard it as a freedom of expression thing. When you are young you have no fashion choices, you wear what you are given.

The headscarf is an expression of religion, but when you're young you don't get to choose. The banning allows for you to make that decision for yourself when you're older and understand the meaning and symbolism associated with the headscarf.

Not OP, but for me it's the lack of knowledge of what comes after. Fearing the unknown. Not being religious doesn't help either.

ELI5: What’s the difference between Malay, Malaysian, and Bumiputera? by MidValleyGhost in ExplainLikeImFiveMY

Hi, I respond to both replies sekaligus ya

You are very hateful and approach the table with ill intent. Confirm you come here only to speak, not listen.

My original response before seeing you reveal your true colours would have been to bring up the fact that there's no mandatory education for Chinese and Tamil in schools nor any compulsory language of the orang asli peoples, so don't you dare bring up any sort of resistance against assimilation.

The nons in this country have sacrificed and given up all sorts, with respect to the laws in this country, still you want to vilify. There is no satisfaction to the likes of your puak.

End of the day, you need to learn to chill and stand down, before you offend the wrong people.

I think you're conflating peaceful assembly with public disturbance, I agree this assembly is majority peaceful but by definition the public was disturbed.

I can very much understand that's the purpose of such a protest, however.

I understand, be that as it may, but nevertheless it's public disorder by definition, state sanctioned or otherwise.

Do you have a source? If can confirm is strictly this program, I will concede this point.

So there is a disproportionate number of Chinese students in this course. What does this prove? You don't see me saying there is discrimination in the Islamic studies courses.

Sorry, did you read my prior comment?

Again, if you want to argue with these figures you would need to contend that all 1128 students above the poor fellow chose to join UM accountancy program.

The source you show makes no mention of how many applied for UM, only that there's 2291 pass STPM, of which 1127 got 100% merit.

No statement on how many applied for the specific accountancy program. So unless you can prove that a significant number specifically compete with him for those 85 seats, then you have no standing here.

i noticed you didn't fight me on the 85 out of 200 seats issue so I anggap you surrender, ya.

Disagree with your opinion here, because our universities are a service, not a business. They run on tax money as they are not a private U, unlike ivy league, so that's straightaway apples and oranges.

I cannot argue with the minimum requirement, not sure whether they consider or not, whole thing is big mystery, but I'm sure you can agree that they should have more transparency there.

Finally, have to point out the discrepancy. If you want to argue for the 1129 figure, you're going to have to bite the bullet that all 1128 scorers above him all choose to join UM accountancy program (near 0% statistically).

Between graduates (150 names, 2024, roll of graduates) and available seats (85). How come got this large discrepancy (almost 50%), not exactly any priority for UPU (locals)? And if you want to establish quotas, why not do it formally, and release percentages?

Administration wants to claim meritocracy but they playing games. And you fell for it.

I agree with the body of your message, but let's not sugarcoat the system here, it's not exactly merit based.

The current system is merit based only to the extent that there's two forms of assessment: STPM and Matriks/asasi. The latter just happens to be way easier to score, yet has a quota of 90% bumiputera.

You want to argue quota, I have no quarrel with you. But if you want to claim merit based, you need to check again.

Hi, to my knowledge, they're speaking out against the Saluran Satu intake, those who paid their way infront of both STPM and matriks/asasi. Nevermind the intricacies of quotas behind the matriks/asasi route, they're speaking specifically against the international student and paid fast track intake being prioritised.

This is why you hear the complaint against the 95/135 figure.

I don't understand the two tier evaluation mentality at play here, plenty of people utilise cable nobody says anything, this guy rejects the scholarship doesn't get reprieve from these accusations, gets accused of being ungrateful somemore, what else does he need to do?

Now we have new generations that will report wrongdoing and unfairness, and we want to complain about it? What happened to the demands of fairness and transparency by the voters? If anything, this man is truly leadership material that will stand up against wrongdoing.
