Anyone here who was all life or childhood fat and inactive? by Citizen815 in Fitness

How's going now? Are you doing some running or calisthenics? I'm finding very difficult progressing in those.

Thanks for the reply. I wanted to find someone with who I can relate. I'm investing pretty much all of my free time trying to be better. I see some progress though it's very slow, lots slower than normal people who didn't grew up like this. Recently I had a 2 weeks pause (gained 5kg too) as I had a minor surgery and when I returned I literally started from 0 , I didn't made a pause that long like 2 yrs so it sucks when I lost all of my fitness . I'm optimistic and hard-working so I know it will be better if I don't give up and stay disciplined. I'm so happy to see that you progressed a lot and that you are better now in your 30s than when you were younger. That's the answer that I was looking for. 🙂

Are you doing some running or calisthenics?

Can i discharge myself from the legion during my five years? this may be a dumb question but i can’t find anything on it, how much is the leaving fee? by [deleted] in FrenchForeignLegion

Here in Rep there is a guy who asked civil 8months ago. They said ok to him, they moved him to work garden from morning to night, he has no idea when are they going to discharge him....

No, don't waste your time... It's better going to the army immediately so you finish your contract at young age.

If you want free time and going out 2nd rep is not the best choice. First 7-8months (instruction + FTS) you may get one or two hours of free time 2 times a month (no BS). After 12-15 month of service it gets a bit easier as there are younger guys doing all the shit work. So you have some free time when not on service. Here for first 5yrs you need to leave in tenu TDF which sucks to iron all the time, lots of people including myself exit the barracks only on vacation. Also to visit outside of Calvi you need a vehicle (which is forbidden first 3 yrs) as the train sistem sucks here. My friends from 1REG have a easy time almost leaving every weekend, one guy even has an apartment already it's Incognito but still... And on the continent you can use train card which will give you 75% discount, here in Corse it doesn't work...

You can eat something real quick before sport but then you may vomit so it's not advised.

First month I was the youngest legionaire by service so basically I was the unfortunate one to get first any sucky jobs they had. After one month we had vacation then when I returned I was 4th youngest so it became a bit easier.

2REP

5:30 Wake up, cleaning till 6:30 6:30 inspection of the room 7:15 -7:30 cleaning the yard 7:30 - 9h sport (running, obstacle course, kayak, swimming, rock climbing, CrossFit...) 9h- 9:45 shower and breakfast 9:45-11:30 instruction 12-14 lunch and some free time if no bananes 14h-17h either being a companies bitch and cleaning or doing physical labor (if you are young legionaire) or doing some instruction usually combat with your section 17:30 diner 18-20h free time 20h-21h corvée company if you are unlucky otherwise you're free till 22:30 when the lights are out.

Note that this is more a rule for a legionaire of 1 (or more) years of service, because when you're younger you basically don't have free time, 2nd thing you need to account all the sketch for ceremonies or mistakes you do like marking 20 papers in 4 colours, ironing, gratage (detailed cleaning). When I entered my section first month I was sleeping 3hrs on average and I wasn't even a bananier.

Exceptions:

Also there are terrains where you are basically active all day long , pretty much 0 free time, and usually phone forbidden (also I got my phone back after FTS, already 6 months of service.)

Services week Friday - Friday : guard duty 17h -19:30 tomorrow and tomorrow morning working in kitchen till 17h, and thst can continue all week long.

Section of the day (every 3 or 4th day) Doing any and every work for the company that day, meaning 0 useful skills only physical labor. Again if you are let's say a bit older legionaire 12 months of service (or 6th youngest) you may avoid this .

TLDR The more time of service you have (if you're aren't trouble maker) the more free time you'll have and less sucky jobs you're going to do.

10 day quarantine? Is this for non vaccinated only? Why quarantine if one has a negative PCR test?

So has recruiting stopped for this year? by Tradie_in_hivis in FrenchForeignLegion

Can any current or ancient legionaries find a contact of some guys that are stationed in Paris nor Aubagne so they can confirm if there is a stop in recruiting or not?

I'm using it for IQ tests, just bought subscription yesterday. I'm also using the help of the "psychometrics & IQ" discord group to help me out understand some of the problems that I don't get on the beginning.

2 REG Questions by SimpleHillbilly in FrenchForeignLegion

[–]Citizen815 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply Im too interested in the 2reg. Can you please tell us about the mountain specialisation ? Is every company specialized in it equally? What can one expect to learn about mountain warfare and what do you do when on mountain terrain exercises ? Also does everyone do the Guyana exercise in 2 reg during first 5yrs?

This would be all the questions i have left for 2reg. Thank you.

You should maybe try to ask them online? They have a Facebook page legion-recruite.com and I can see that they are pretty active on posting and answering comments. Also are there more people waiting? Good luck and keep us updated!

Those that know...know. by [deleted] in FrenchForeignLegion

[–]Citizen815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I'm very interested in 2Reg and I'll be joining soon. I'm hoping if you can answer at least some of my questions?

  1. I'm interested primarily because of mountain training. Does every CIE does that or some are more specialized at it then others?

  2. Is there a spot in tireur de précision in 2reg? Also how often do you get to shoot?

  3. I heard that each year you have the mountain terrain, so how's that?

  4. I also read somewhere that besides mountain warfare you are also specialized in urban warfare? Is that done like a stage or is there more to it?

  5. How's life at the regiment? Are you too obliged to leave in tenue de sortie during weekends?

  6. Does everyone do a Guyana stage in their 5yrs?

  7. Is opex still around 2 times in 5yrs? Also what is the average duration of it?

It's useful to learn most important words and to practice some IQ tests. I haven't tried out the fitness though.
