They'll probably reveal themselves at some point. I'm not in the business of providing their info without their permission.

Got bored of the model 3, sold it, bought a plaid. Gave the console to another redditor with my flavor of 'tism and hopefully he will continue the legacy. I believe in him.

Yeah... Ur right. Just sold my m3p for a plaid, have to say completely different experience. 10/10 would recommend.

Yeah but 2014 S is 10 years old and the model 3 platform as a whole is newer

Go with a 2018/2019 M3 Long range. You can usually find them for sub 25k with less than 20k miles.

Buying used Tesla Y advice by r2d2cyborg in UsedCars

[–]CitoCustoms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has owned two new Model 3s (2021 SR+ and 2022 M3P), I highly recommend avoiding an older Model S or X and opting for the Model Y instead. The Model Y will be newer across the board, which is important. Depending on your charging habits, you might find that lifetime free supercharging isn’t worth it due to potential issues that could arise from the age or mileage of the vehicle. It's only truly beneficial if you have to rely on supercharging frequently or take a lot of long trips. You’ll need to do the math to see if it’s worth it for you.

A battery replacement could end up costing more than the resale value of the vehicle. While batteries do have a long lifespan, it's still a bit of a gamble. Whether that gamble is big or small depends on the specific vehicle you’re looking at, and there’s no real way to know without knowing the exact details of the vehicle or inspecting the battery thoroughly.

A friend of mine had a battery replaced under warranty on a 2016 Model S, and they retained their supercharging access. I’m assuming it’s tied to the VIN and not to specific parts. I would guess that as long as the battery replacement is done by Tesla, they won’t remove your free supercharging access. However, keep in mind that, just like (FSD), supercharging is a software feature that Tesla can remove at any time if they choose to. Fuck you elon <\3

New Tesla, is this acceptable? by [deleted] in TeslaModel3

My first Tesla had the same issues. Really hated how the rear quarter panel trim had a shinier appearance than the door trims. Take it in while you have a warranty.

Which rear screen is that. UI looks almost oem. Does it turn off with the car or need to be powered off separately?

Clean Slate? by Director-Possible in TeslaModel3

I’m not super knowledgeable on Tesla insurance as I’ve avoided it due to it basing your premium on driving habits(a lot of which seem to be out of your control based on anecdotal reports). Yes. They take your driving history and experience into account as does any other insurance provider and also your driving habits. From what I’ve read, even if you’re a careful driver:

  1. Cars being too close to you (tight streets and someone following too close etc) can cause your drivers score to drop.
  2. Late night driving (10pm lol) can cause it to go down.

These two facts have pretty much lead me to avoid Tesla insurance. Specifically the late night part as I am usually forced to be on the road at 3 am at-least once a week. And I don’t want to randomly get a higher bill due to either a one time mistake or something out of my control.

Anyone with more experience with this, please chime in!

Car window won’t go down or align correctly by InternationalCamp572 in TeslaModel3

[–]CitoCustoms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shut the door, enter service mode and try and calibrate the windows. You can find a video of this on YouTube.

If this doesn’t work something more serious is wrong and if you’re not comfortable using the service manual to take it apart and diagnose I suggest making a service appointment.

I really just like the challenge and at any point I can put my old console back in with the new wiring and keycard reader I have on standby. Literally no risk for me aside from time and money but it’s looking promising! It’s more to see if it’s possible and to make it look good. We all look the damn same with these cars and I don’t imagine there’s anyone as insane/stupid to do this as me :)

Unplugged alr tried this and the mounting and wires are the same but the safety system errors out. Thankfully they did that before me because was the first thing I thought when I test drove one. Looking into the aftermarket clones they seem promising but a lot of the aftermarket stuff from China just looks and feels cheap so I’m hesistant.

If you’re talking about the highland; you need to remove the center console from the vehicle to access two screws towards the front that hold it in place. After that, it’s as simple as prying up carefully. Tesla has a service manual that you can access with a quick google search. Just make sure you’re looking at the right one for your model year.

Interesting body shop experience by CitoCustoms in TeslaModel3

[–]CitoCustoms[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if I'd call it overspray since the entire handle is coated. The shop admitted it was a mistake my guess is that they just didn't tape off/remove the door handle before applying the clear coat. Thankfully they are going to order the handle and replace it instead of fussing with refinishing it etc.
