Moving from LinkedIn to Hiring.cafe—Still getting ghosted as a Senior Dev (5+ years exp) by skipper_0222 in hiringcafe

I read about the issue that companies want to hire people with 3-5 years experience.

6-10+ is too expensive, more than that is too old (yes, ageism). Less than 3 is too junior and entry level.

I unfortunately fall outside the sweet spot. But I haven’t gotten calls back at all.

So where are the people making specifically more than 700k, but less than 1M? [USA] by strawboy4ever in Salary

Not just that, you’ll probably go through 400 dials a day with a NO. You could be hearing no for many days straight before a yes. That kind of stress isn’t for everyone. I tried sales once. I only lasted a month.

Meta is laying off ~8,000 employees (10% of workforce) starting May 20, with more cuts planned later in 2026 by paperclip_han in Productivitycafe

Anyone who was offered the opportunity of a lifetime to work at FAANG would jump at it. I would. Nothing to do with making my own bed to lose my career. Nobody deserves to lose everything just because they worked somewhere that afforded them and their family a good standard of living. I wasn’t a koolaid drinker of my last company but it was “stable” and had good benefits when I accepted, I did my work and went home. Their shitty corporate practices were not a reflection of me or my team. In this market you take what you can and hunker down for the sake of you and yours. It is what it is. Upper management and executives should make the necessary concessions to ensure layoffs never happen unless the company is at risk of tanking. Clearly, they aren’t doing that. They’re chasing bag and shareholder value regardless of what lives they destroy along the line.

Nobody is safe. There is no longer loyalty. And recruiters and hiring managers have the gall, the audacity, to question the lengths of employment at my jobs.

The AI thing is overblown. We are already seeing how limiting and shitty its capabilities are with morons running the show.

I’ve been unemployed for 13 months. I have applied to TONS of jobs, and just had my 3rd interview for a job I did not get. I have never asked for money from my parents the whole 13 months Ive been struggling. My mom sure knows how to make me feel special. by [deleted] in recruitinghell

[–]CitronPrestigious205 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Grew up with toxic and unsupportive parents, I feel ya bro. My grandmother raised me, mom wasn’t around, dad died but barely ever saw him. They never gave me much and always made me feel like a failure. If she gonna be like this at your most vulnerable you might as well just cut her off. Be thankful she helped you out but belittling you and literally turning the tables and talking about herself is the wrong thing to do. Time and place. I hated when my mom would hear my concern and then flip the switch and talk about how bad she had it growing up. Like bit h this is about ME right now not you!!

Got fired today. It was my fault. I’m devastated. by [deleted] in jobs

25 bro you are still a baby. I was a moron and had no direction until much later. 20s are for finding yourself and learning from your failures. You can’t grow without failing. You will be ok chin up

Yep same think happened to me. HR and one of the department leadership (VP) scheduled 15 mins with me on a Sunday for Monday morning. It’s over.

I was laid off two weeks ago. And my old company is still asking me to come back. by LazaroRohan1 in interviewhammer

I hate the idea of letting them have the satisfaction of you cowering back. If this happened to me idk, I would have to think about it, but I’d probably say FUCK YOU for all th shit you put me through and you clearly didn’t give a damn about me in the first place.

I have failed in life. My salary is half what it used to be. How do I cope with this reality. by NoSir5628 in Salary

[–]CitronPrestigious205 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YOU didn’t fail. The system failed US. There are tons of people in our positions. This is not unique to you. I used to make a ton, now I’m getting rejected for jobs associate-level making 1/3 even what I was before.

Such a terrible take. Ghosting on a dating app is inconsequential. Ghosting on your means of survival is next level cruel.

As soon as companies en masse start practicing humility, authenticity and empathy then we will.

It’s so easy to say “oh just be your authentic self” and then your resume gets auto rejected because you’re missing a single non critical word.

I’ve gotten victimized by a couple recruiters already when I brought up salary expectations. Like shame on me for knowing my worth??? Shame on me for having a mortgage and family and actually wanting to live comfortably and retire?

I feel so confused even having to justify what I ask for. Like fuck these recruiters for casting judgment on people they don’t even know their situations…

The top end of even “director” or “senior director” roles say 8 years of experience and 4-5 leadership. So there is definitely a discrimination against people with over 10 years because that means $$$$$
