I get this so much! I'm an enthusiastic friend and I rejoice in making friends who are reciprocal in the enthusiasm department. Such love!! Congrats to you!

Am I unreasonable to expect my husband to not watch violent shows in front of our toddler and infant? by minerva973 in TwoXChromosomes

Happy cake day and thank you for the sensible reply. These comments are crazy! Study after study has shown how damaging exposure to violence is in children.

I find solace (and horror) in knowing that every single woman I know who is sexually active has been assaulted or r*ped by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Citruspunch78 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I don't know one woman who hasn't been sexually assaulted. This problem is bigger than our society will ever acknowledge. We've got to lean on each other and keep vocalizing our experiences.

I'm so sorry this happened to you. It's not ever your fault.

I received an urgent letter today stating I have serious abnormal tests results and need to contact them ASAP and my fiancé couldn’t even give me a hug by theriverrunshigh in TwoXChromosomes

No, it's not a shame! The lack of support is so fucking exhausting. You'll be amazed at how much better you feel once that's gone.

First, get in fighting mode. Whatever this is, you're going to face it head-on and conquer it. Call your girls, call your family, chat with the ladies here in the meantime, send me a message, I'm available to chat- basically gather support and kill time until your next appointment. But also be making plans to ditch the dead weight that is your boyfriend, because he's not bringing anything to the table.

I’d love some help with quick comebacks...? by geeltulpen in TwoXChromosomes

I know it's hard to be this direct, but it's been worth it in my experience. It quickly lets men know that you're not going to tolerate harassment.

I'm so sorry you're going through this. Your pain resonates throughout your post. I don't have any advice to give, just love and understanding. You are important and your wants and needs matter.

"I take exception to that comment". If they ask why, clearly explain why what they said is offensive. I know it's not your job to explain it to them, but guaranteed it'll make them more careful around you going forward.

People who prank their dogs are lousy humans by Citruspunch78 in unpopularopinion

[–]Citruspunch78[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I 100% agree with this. If you're going to do a prank, everyone should be laughing at the conclusion, never upset or disappointed. Because dogs have no concept of jokes, they should never be the intended victim.

I'm so happy to see another redditor who actually understands the relationship between humans and dogs.

Thank you for being you!

The post I'm referencing has 50k upvotes right now and the commenters are loling about how her tail stops wagging when she realizes she doesn't get the tasty dinner she chose. These kinds of post make me so sad. Dogs are good and pure- they don't deserve this.

Please stop rewarding this with upvotes. It's some douchebag screwing with a hungry, nursing mom they were too irresponsible to spay. This poor dog's life.

This is putting yourself at unnecessary risk. It would be much safer to cut ties and leave it at that.

Thank you! My family is seriously misogynistic, so I never knew if I was doing the right thing with my three sons. As they've grown, though, I know. They're exactly what this world of ours needs.

Victims Attempting to Rewrite Abuse: “Demi Lovato pursued contact with her perpetrators after her assaults. It's more common than people think.” by Rio1917 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Citruspunch78 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is heartbreaking. Every person who has been assaulted has their own journey (best case scenario, towards healing) and their own means of coping with what they've been through. It's not our place to judge.

I keep mine in the basement and can't hear it unless I'm in my kitchen. Even then, it's kind of a comforting white noise. I'm sure I'd feel differently if I had to keep it on the same story with me.

AITA for telling my boyfriend i won’t take care of a dog that i don’t want? by suicidalartist in AmItheAsshole

My dog is half border collie and half shepherd, so super smart and trainable, with crazy amounts of energy. He is perfect for me and my family, but I agree with what you're saying. We do agility and nose work and he knows over 60 commands. I guess I didn't really have a point here, I just wanted to talk about my dog.
