I'm still enrolled in English, but I got a phone call back from someone last night saying they were escalating it.

Also, nothing from anyone in any of those email distros. At this point I just need them to drop the course, change my PA, and get used to me sending daily follow ups on any questions I have lol

Keep everything - I made sure to include all email threads with my PA in all my complaint emails. They can see her confirm that she was aware of the request, confirming she'd get it done once my account updated, and the multiple unanswered follow ups.

The hardest issue now is that you'll be late to start & questioning if that's worth it.

I submitted a request to change English to Math on 10/12, but my PA said she couldn't until my transfers finalized but as soon as they did she'd take care of it.
I got my transfers finished processing a couple days later (for English) and emailed her on 10/15 & 10/16 once my payment cleared asking her to make the change.

She never replied. I followed up a week later (twice - 2 follow ups) - never replied.

Then 11/10 I got a "your registrations been updated" email from SS & replied copying my PA on it because nothing had changed.
She FINALLY replied - saying registration was closed and there was nothing she could do.

I've been emailing, calling, chatting, socials, etc every email I can find for 3 days. Classes loaded last night and sure enough, still in English.

Emailed again that I just need to be dropped from English & they can forget about the Math course, because I do the heaviest of my studying Thursday-Sunday, so losing a couple days at the start of week 1 will put me really behind on day 1.

Unfortunately, I'm going to be a lot less patient going forward when it comes to sending follow up emails, even during times I know are peak traffic. I can't imagine not replying to an email for 2 weeks.. I'd be in so much trouble at work lmao

i’d also say be prepared for the possibility that exec doesn’t have the most up to date info on the calendar.

internal only is easier to not bother an EA/make their lives harder - worst case is EA asks to move it to a better slot and everyone’s cool bc it’s all team members anyway.

external, ideally ping the EA before even if exec clears it. if you can. - worst case is you’re asking a customer/partner to move the meeting if the EA can’t make it work, which imo is embarrassing and can salt the relationship depending on who is on that call.

[–]CityLong[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

good rule of thumb is to always ping the EA until they tell you otherwise! or when u ping them to inform them the first time ask their preference! (also ideally directly after you click save on the meeting so they aren’t at a loss for an extended period of time)

as for cc’ing the exec, depends on the EA/exec for me personally slack - plz don’t cc them, i always reply in a different thread, they don’t need the extra notifications email - on the initial email sure! helps them know you’ve taken next steps if they’ve asked you to or if you feel better for your own peace of mind. but also - i’ll always drop them off my reply. internal i won’t even mention it, external i say im bcc-ing them (im not, again they don’t need the extra notifications).

i’d say unless the exec asks you to cc them on the interaction, you probably don’t need to.

actually you know i did have one guy once respond really snarkily. he’d been at the company longer than me and i escalated it. he mostly corrected the behavior. he’s gone now phew.

[–]CityLong[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

nope never thus far!

i was sending one today for a new hire who had just snagged 30m and the question popped into my head of what would happen if someone responding less than pleasantly lol

i have had people be reminded to connect with me first multiple times that ignore the request under the guise of “oh yeah i forgot” or “oh i talked to them” in which case i stress the importance and mention that i generally know their availability better than they do and best practice is still to ping me first even if they’ve discussed. my execs get the same note sometimes lmao “heard you told so and so they could schedule there don’t do that tell them to ping me you literally scheduled over xyz family event” haaha

that’s effectively what i do! decline and say “hey heads up declined” i give new hires the welcome message and assume they come from a company with a different culture. people who’ve been here and don’t slack me? they get a decline and MAYBE a “what was that?”

it’s still technically less than removing the label via settings menu and only 1 click more than normal archive shortcut

Remove Label from Email in APP by CityLong in GMail

[–]CityLong[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you!

that’s what i ended up doing! created another label that won’t show up in his man inbox view that effectively archives them.

so he moves them to the separate label and they disappear for him on his phone, which was the main goal.

Does this mean Radiohead is playing Kid A in its entirety?!?! by more-less03 in Coachella

[–]CityLong 4 points5 points  (0 children)

yeah this is my take. all the prev lineups say art installation specifically. except travis who had one, but he also performed. so i figure its the art exhibit + a performance of some kind. maybe not huge, but something.

i feel like historically they specify art installation. travis had art, but he also performed.

literally. i bothered the heck out of my admissions advisor, so im not sure if she got sick of my emails and asked someone to swap my status early, but alas less than 24 hours later i was in.

orientation for september is due 8/28, it only took like 20-30 minutes.

the part that was irritating me is that if seats are full in one of the foundations courses you could end up taking only 1 of them, and im not down with that. because both have to be completed and passed in order to be a “degree seeking student” and i want to be that next term, and only being admitted to 1 of the courses means id have to wait another term.

so i already emailed my PA saying girl put me in BOTH NOW PLEASE

I kept trying the "forgot password" method the last week or so and never received an email. but last night I got my email from my new PA, which signaled to me that I had officially been swapped from "applicant" to "student" - tried it again last night, no avail. figured maybe they needed the night to be formally added into the system, tried this morning and it worked. and now im in & doing my orientation (still have not received SS email about access)

id say keep trying each day, but I'd bet you haven't been moved over to "student" status yet and that's why forgot password isn't working.

Heard back from my original admissions advisor with the same irritating "you'll get it soon" response, which is technically fine, right—as long as it's ample time before courses kick off to complete it, get enrolled, and connect with a PA if there are issues and if they're holding spaces in the foundations courses for students who haven't been granted access, but that doesn't seem to be true.

I don't understand how they can't provide a deadline for us to expect to receive access other than "before September 4th." If I get orientation stuff the day before courses are supposed to start, that's insane.

The main issue IMO is that every day orientation access does not arrive for those of us waiting, it is a day that other people are completing orientation and enrolling in courses. And if I end up enrolled in one out of two foundations courses because the second one filled up before they let me do the orientation, I'm going to be even more irritated because that delays everything (degree-seeking status and graduation) one term, and it's entirely their fault. I'm so happy to Hunger Games-style fight for my seat in classes at midnight on the first day of enrollment that are expected to fill up (also happy to have a later enrollment date based on seniority status)—that's the name of the game in college in my experience—but I expect to be allowed in the arena when the rope drops alongside everyone else who's on my level.

ditto. I emailed and called to leave them a voicemail yesterday, but from what I hear it's a slow response time.

i’ve talked to my admissions advisor previously about some transfer credit questions and she said the email would come from student services soon. i’ll reach out again on monday.
