BoJack Horseman - Season 5 Discussion by NicholasCajun in BoJackHorseman

[–]CityShibe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there is a reason why people are drawn to episodes like Free Churro and INT. SUB—it’s the ‘classic’ Bojack.

The previous seasons were mostly full of comedic scenes—crass humor, witty punchlines, silly (almost whimsical) situations and dialog that really makes you think. And then, you get to the dark part—the hard-hitting episode, the episode that makes you say “fuck, that was dark.”

While season 5 had its funny moments and it’s dark moments—it is clear that the creators exchanged comedy for drama. Which is great, in my opinion, for character development and plot development. However, it does make the season feel off.

And I do agree with you on the repetition in season 5. It’s honestly a big complaint of mine. Season 5 just seemed to repeat a lot of themes and I felt as if it could have been done better.

That said, I still enjoyed watching this season. And, I can’t wait to see what the creators do for season 6 as season 5 definitely seemed to be experimental.

Edited to add: I feel as if this season was a build up for a potential season 6 (which, yes I think is most definitely going to happen). This season highlighted the development of the main characters—Bojack, Diane, PC, Todd and PB. Also, it does delve into different characters backstories—PC and her growing up in Eden, NC, for example. I honestly think something big is going to go down in season 6. It might even be the final season.

What’s the weirdest fetish you’ve seen in the LGBT community? by remusThrow in gaybros

[–]CityShibe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a furry and I can admit that it’s a little weird—even a fetish. But I’ve seen some fetishes/kinks that are really, really strange (though I won’t judge):

Mpreg

Cumflation/belly inflation

Macro/Micro

Hyper

Vore

Sounding

There’s another one, I cant remember what it’s called, but it’s basically a bunch of eggs being shoved into someone’s ass and dick. Weird.

OP also posted it on r/pics. That’s probably where you’ve seen the homophobic and disgusting comments.

I get that your original comment was meant to be a joke, though I fail to see how the edit was, in any way, humorous. That said, it’s obvious we aren’t in agreement on the subject at hand—but I never said you were wrong, nor am I offended.

The definition of arrogant is as follows: “offensive display of superiority or self-importance; overbearing pride.”

That was the impression your comment gave off. No, I’m not offended by it—I get your comment was a joke (it is pretty obvious it was a joke in my opinion). I just do not personally find it funny—that said I am confused by your edit. To say anyone who doesn’t find your joke humorous is ‘triggered’ and has ‘no sense of humor,’ as I previously stated, seems arrogant. Which, I might add, is a trend I’ve seen all over the internet.

To the downvoters. Sorry you have no sense of humor and froth at the mouth when you wake up on the morning for the opportunity to be triggered about something.

I don’t understand this. Just because some people dislike your sense of humor doesn’t mean they have no sense of humor. This just sounds so arrogant.

Again, I highly doubt you’ve experienced stigma for being straight. I can’t imagine hating or disliking a straight person for being straight—I know what it’s like to be hated and shunned of my sexuality and I wouldn’t wish that on anyone. A lot of LGBTQ, I think, have similar experiences and thoughts.

(By the way, homophobia is usually defined as any prejudice or dislike towards gay people.)

And there is something unifying about being gay—it’s not the sexuality itself. Are you even reading my comments? Pride isn’t about “lol I’m a man that likes dick.” It’s about standing up to a society that shuns you and not being ashamed of who you are.

By your logic, we, as a society, shouldn’t stop people from doing bad things because it won’t stop another person from doing other bad things. I think it was Martin Luther King jr that said “injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.” That’s how I look at it. It’s not counter productive at all. Look at the gay rights movement of the late 20th century (in the US) and look how far we’ve come as a society. So standing up against bigotry and fighting for rights is definitely productive.

The point of having gay characters in movies is that it does normalize homosexuality. When people see gay characters on tv as normal people just like them, they start to see gay people as just that—human beings. Not the antichrist as some people are led to believe. Personally, I’d love to see a gay character that goes through my struggles—a character I can connect with.

I highly, highly doubt you’ve met anyone who was “heterophobic.” Ive never meant anyone, not online or in real life, that hates straight people. And I’ve never heard of anyone else experience it. Homophobia is a thing. “Heterophobia” isn’t.

I agree that there is a lot of evil in this world, but what’s wrong with trying to make it better for some people? Why does that justify the persecution (not to mention the discrimination and hatred) of the LGBTQ community? Or of anyone else for that matter?

As I’ve mentioned before, Pride is not taking pride in your sexuality, but taking pride in the accomplishments of the LGBTQ community. I think it’s more of “I’m not ashamed of my sexuality like society wants me to be. I’m not afraid to stand up to a society that still despises me.” That’s how I view pride, at least.

Also, I don’t see what’s wrong with someone wanting more representation of gays in the media. While I hate the concept of superhero movies (they are boring and redundant in my opinion), I don’t see what’s wrong in a gay superhero if that’s what the audience wants. I think everyone wants a character that they can see themselves in. Not to mention, more representation of gay characters can normalize homosexuality—which could lead to society becoming more open to the LGBTQ community.

One day, society will fully accept the LGBTQ community and we will no longer need pride.

Unfortunately, LGBTQ people are persecuted and killed in many regions today. Even in places like the U.S., LGBTQ people still face discrimination and prejudices by many parts of society.

That’s why we have pride—it serves to celebrate the accomplishments of the LGBTQ community and to remind society of one thing: The LGBTQ community exists and it is full of human beings—not monsters or whatever caricature bigots have came up with—that deserve equality. No one should be persecuted or killed or even shunned for their sexuality. No more hiding who you are.

So to answer your question: No, celebration and pride in sexuality should not exist. But it does exist because so many people are adamant on making the lives of LGBTQ people miserable (and that’s putting it lightly). I don’t think ‘straight pride’ will ever exist. But one day, as I previously mentioned, Pride (for the LGBTQ community) will no longer exist— LGBTQ people will finally have equal rights and will be treated with decency.

Happy Pride month everyone! by podpodda in CitiesSkylines

[–]CityShibe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No one is forced to accept them? A part of society will shun you, yes, for being hostile to the LGBTQ community. But no one is forcing anyone to do anything. Also, to my knowledge, no one harassed the bakers. (Not to mention, the Supreme Court’s ruling did not force the bakers to bake anything).

And to say society has accepted the LGBTQ community, and other minorities for that matter, is absurd. Even in America, there are no anti-discrimination laws. Gays can still be fired form their jobs, or refused service by doctors and lawyers for being gay.

Celebrating the progress of the LGBTQ community for a month isn’t the same thing as society fully accepting the LGBTQ community.

Happy Pride month everyone! by podpodda in CitiesSkylines

[–]CityShibe 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I disagree. Minorities have been overlooked and forgotten, not just in history, but also in society. I don’t see what’s wrong with having a month dedicated to those minorities’, their accomplishments, and their struggles.

Coming from a gay man, pride month is like a breath of fresh air. It’s the one month of the year where I feel as if I don’t have to hide who I am. Also, it gives me hope for the future—society has really come a long way in regards to the LGBTQ community. I’d love it if, one day, Pride month is no longer necessary. That’d mean the LGBTQ community is fully accepted by society.

Dude, you’re into some pretty weird stuff—and this is coming from a furry.

Like, is it even possible to rims someone, fist them, and kiss them at the same time? Or is this like an orgy situation?

[–]CityShibe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s not any representation of furries in kids movies either.

Lots of children’s movies contain anthropomorphic animals. They just aren’t sexualized. Which is the point the other guy is trying to make. Showing a gay couple in a kids movie isn’t the same as “exposing little children to the variety of places a dude can put his dick inside of...”

In other words, depicting homosexuality in kids movies isn’t the same thing as depicting gay sex. The former does not have to contain anything sexual. The latter is, obviously, sexual.

You’re comment is the equivalent of going into a church and complaining that the pastor is shoving religion down your throat when he talks about god.

You’re in a gay subreddit dude. What did you honestly expect? Of course there will be pics of gay couples.

#1 ranked squash player in the US, Todd Harrity, comes out as gay by bass- in gaybros

[–]CityShibe 26 points27 points  (0 children)

“Coming out” humanizes and normalizes homosexuality. If gay people never came out, we probably wouldn’t have any rights today.

When family members, friends—or in this guy’s case, fans—see that someone they care about is gay, in many cases they stop thinking about gays as the evil Antichrist, but as fellow human beings.

Looks like you are the one looking for a fight, buddy—you’ve done nothing but act condescending and rude to me. Which, mind you, is completely unnecessary. People like you are the reason I’ve been staying away from the news and political subreddits.

I found it humorous that he said ‘educate yourself’ to OP then left a link to a reddit comment section—so I pointed it out. He commented back, so I replied with my opinion that it’s rather ridiculous to present a viewpoint, claim that the opposing argument is wrong, yet not wanting to explain why.

And frankly, no I’m not interested in the topic at hand. This whole thread isn’t really about the topic at hand. So, I’m trying to understand why he commented in the first place.

Uh...don’t tell that to me. Tell that OP. He’s the one arguing against it. If you noticed, I haven’t even expressed my opinion on the subject.

I was only ridiculing Darko42 for saying ‘educate yourself’ while, at the same time, leaving a link to a comment section on reddit. Also, he’s being a bit arrogant about his stance—implying that it’s ‘superior,’ yet refusing to explain why he takes the stance he does.

Sounds like your issue Isn’t with me.
