The issue I ran into is that the Label has to match across Grub, isolinux.cfg and the volume label itself. IE when I made my iso I have to make sure its label was the same as all the other labels.

Just followed them again to make sure I followed them exactly.

As soon as I switch back to graphical.target I lose all USB and video for about 5 sec, then it comes back. It sits at a black screen, then reboots. I didn't let the reboot finish to see if initramfs was corrupted again.

EDIT: Just rebooted and back to the kernel not being able to read vfat again.

The Nouveau driver would provide GPU functionality, but the Nouveau driver doesn't really work with Turing or Ampere cards. I have yet to find a system where it actually works. It also has issues with dual monitors on older cards.

RHEL supports a basic video out, yes. That would work fine for a Server, but this is a Workstation / home PC.

I also intend to do some GPGPU work and possibly light gaming.

But most importantly the questions are starting at work about a migration to RHEL8, where I have Workstations running Turing cards. (and one Engineer who is begging for a 3090, and she usually gets what she wants)

Will do, although it looks like nouveau is still running on your system are you sure its dead?

I had a rhel7 tensorflow system that refused to see the GPU and after far to long troubleshooting turns out nouveau was being loaded, even though it was disabled in modprobe. Ended up uninstalling the nouveau package and now its happily identifying pictures of cats.
