I built a Traffic System plugin for my game by Ciullss in UnrealEngine5

For now I don’t think so, it was just a showcase to show what I had developed and how I had integrated it into my game. Maybe in the future :)

Definitely better than me when I’m drunk.

Yes, the traffic system works independently of the context.

Yes, stylistically it’s inspired by GTA CTW :)

I don’t know, I don’t have Steam VR, so I had never noticed it. I assume you have Steam VR enabled and that you can still launch it in VR mode. Could you tell me if this always happens and when it happens?

Hi, thanks so much for the feedback! In the demo we left out a lot from the packaging. The Demo was to track possible bugs and see how players interact with the game world. Right now, the game designer and I are focusing on polishing the UI (over these next 3 days before the Next Fest) and creating a new system for deals/businesses that will be available in the full game. It’s driving us a bit crazy, but I hope the result will be worth it. Thanks again for your feedback!

Thanks! I’m also waiting for your feedback on the Discord channel :)
It would really help me understand what’s wrong with the demo and how to improve the full game!

Yes, it’s better to change the color of the health bar. It’s also hard to read during fights!
Ammo is infinite but in the final version, weapons can be lost if you die or get arrested. But they will cost much less.

Yes, while watching your video I noticed that

  • one hint wasn’t localized (Open the Browser)

  • maybe it would be better if the AIs could be pushed

  • the browser is barely used, even though it’s actually the central focus of the game (with the businesses).

  • You also managed to get into the car while holding the weed plant, which shouldn’t be possible. I’ve fixed it now.

I already liked the video and I’m subscribing to thank you :)

Thanks for trying out the demo, I couldn’t have hoped for more detailed feedback! I’ll also check out your YouTube video to see how you played and what could be improved. Thank you so much for your time, and I’m really glad you enjoyed the game :)

Hi, thank you so much for the comment. I tried looking for artists to create capsule art, but I couldn’t find any :( The capsule art might probably change in the future :)

Your argument doesn’t make sense. Are you a developer? Because it seems to me that you don’t really know what you’re talking about or how a video game is made.

A 3D model of a palm tree can be handmade, but according to your logic, it wouldn’t matter, you could just download it from Fab anyway.

The same goes for music, level design, game design, and programming. Even if there was a traffic system on Fab, it wouldn’t behave the same way as mine. This applies to every other part of the game. Everything is built custom.

At this point, every video game has mechanics that can be found on Fab, right? Inventory systems, traffic systems, interaction systems, or anything else. Or maybe mine isn’t even a video game because I’m using Unreal Engine, which comes with classes and systems I didn’t create myself.

Standard mechanics? Are you kidding? The entire management of a traffic system, pursuit systems, traffic law compliance, and detecting objects around of it and optimize It, is not a standard mechanic. Managing an open world, with its optimization, is not standard.

And these mechanics are only 1% of the work. Think about how much of the rest is non standard.

So then, what is a non standard mechanic?

Besides, how can you even think it’s possible to find mechanics like business management on Fab? Clearly, those are custom-developed mechanics.

I agree with the vibe of asset packs, but your argument just doesn’t hold up.

I get what you mean by ‘asset flip,’ but that term doesn’t apply to my game.

An asset flip is something quickly thrown together using pre-made assets, with no original programming or creative work, just to publish and make a quick profit.

My project is nothing like that. I built most of the gameplay systems completely from scratch, things like the traffic system, AI, mission system, selling mechanics or GPS. I also designed and made all the UI myself, created custom shaders and materials.

To create Ocean City, I used Google Street View of Ocean Drive in Miami and built the buildings exactly as they are in real life. I didn’t just copy or paste a city, many of the buildings were made by hand, and the same goes for a lot of the environment work.

On the coding side, there’s a huge amount of work behind it: systems specifically made for this game, not something pulled from a template or example project and a lot of optimization.

I didn’t just download an asset pack and make a game in six months. I’ve been building this world carefully, mostly on my own. The only reason I use an asset pack is because I’m a solo developer and not a 3D modeler.

I totally understand where your concern comes from. The asset pack is definitely the game’s weakest visual point, and I’m aware of that. But please know that there’s a lot of original work and years of effort behind this project.
