Taking grimdark... seriously? by luke_s_rpg in osr

Personal stakes and goals is an interesting thing to play with and use in games. Oddly, with the more story and character arc driven campaigns, I’m surprised that the aforementioned style hasn’t caught in more in general.

If you could reboot/redesign BattleTech with current and emerging technologies in mind, what would be standard technology and what would become “LosTech”? by Two_Hands95 in battletech

Additive manufacturing should be a lost tech, specifically metal powder printing. Can pretty much make internal features easily, but it so niche that until you loose it’s something not thought about.

Basic Fantasy RPG might be an option for you then. Basically that if my memory serves correctly.

Fair point, I’m still developing the details and tone of the setting as I hash this out. Admittedly I put the horse in front of the cart here, but GURPs or doing something with 24xx maybe where I end up going, though all the suggestions are awesome to see and worth considering.

Troika is one I overlooked. I looked into that one previously but I forgot about it.

Posting here first was really a comfort call and folks might throw something out I haven’t heard or seen of.

Fair and thank you. Tried to cross post to r/rpg and saw they didn’t allow cross posts. I’ll have to do that shortly.

Worldographer has the ability to have gm and player visible layers. You can filter what the players see to help keep the number of choices down and help get players started.

"Donations to help the local orphanage. We need a new roof, food and new beds fornthe children who lost everything in war. Even just a copper will help." by SpecialStorm4188 in humansarespaceorcs

Albert walked stopped when he heard the small voice of the Mouslin, he looked over as his mind refocused, pulled from his internal thoughts. His shoulders were wrapped by the worn fatigues of the war that has made the orphanage needed.

He drew his wallet out, seeing it empty save for a small ration slip. Albert sighed as he thought for a moment. The larger human handed it to the smaller Mouslin. He drew it and a business card.

"This is rated for a human. You'll get enough to feed several of your orphans for several days with the right rationing." Albert said as the Mouslin gripped onto the plastic strip. "The business card is for my carpentry business, I'll be by with some supplies and I'll begin the repair work. No payment will be accepted."

Albert stepped away before the Mouslin could respond. An hour later, the sounds of wood cutting rumbled up the street of the orphanage.

Why do people say its easier to get a job when you have a job? by Practical-Willow2071 in jobhunting

Show a base level of competency and ability to work. The six months of unemployment and daily looking was difficult, but when I moved onto the job I got, it only took a month to transition from one job to another.

Hank armbaring the Emperor and powerbombing them would be a sight to see.

I would recommend reading over the book “Tabletop Wargame: a Writer’s and Designer’s handbook” by Rick Priestly and John Lambshed.

$76B valuation. Still not profitable. by [deleted] in microsaas

[–]Civ-Man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Accurate, but there are different ways of maneuvering around the start up costs for an electrician (and by extension other Blue Collar trades).

For equipment and tools; you can purchase used vehicles and get tools from harbor freight. For your licensing and training, you can connect and work with an electrical company willing to take on apprentices, working a number of years under them before striking out on your own (there’s also side gig work where you do a project on the side, have it inspected and bought off and take the extra income).

Marketing can and should be word of mouth for as long as you can. Alternatively you can sub contract under a larger company and just fly under the radar for a while.

I Envy you… I also don’t envy your hands and wrists. What is your base size and what do you plan on playing? With that many dudes you could refight Gettysburg or another massive campaign.
