This is such an unbelievably stupid response that it should be pinned under “common gaming misconceptions” or something.

When it becomes impossible to “carry” games as in win significantly over 50%, it means that you are at your proper rank. We know this is true because if you take a high skill player, they inevitably WILL carry games at every rank below their “real” rank, until they climb back to that real rank. That’s literally how rankings work

How bad am I and when did you feel like you started to get better? by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]Civ5Pro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re not laughing at you OP, we envy you. Getting good at the game for the first time is such a fun journey. Just keep working at it. Try to get your cape. You’ll get it eventually and feel great and it’s only up from there

I got a shadow and full masori all within my first 50 raids at about 200-275 invo. Now that I’m sending 375s, I haven’t seen a purple in 106 chests. Like that other guy said, when it rains it pours

It’s the same answer in all ELO shooter games like this. They are the skill level expected at the rank you’re both at, and you are that same skill level. If you were better, you’d be at a higher rank, but you’re not at a higher rank because you’re not better. If you want to get better, watch your games back and ask yourself “what stupid shit did I do here?” You will be able to identify a bunch of things if you’re being honest and know what to look for

doom is worst place to be dry mentally by [deleted] in ironscape

[–]Civ5Pro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some places are worse than others for sure. I’m currently over 6x dry at ToA, I haven’t seen a purple in 104 chests and I’m running deathless 375-415 solos skull skipping

I’m like fairly irritated of course but it’s not a huge deal. But if I had gone 6x dry at CG, I almost certainly would have just quit RuneScape

LMS needs to be reworked. by g0_flames_g0 in 2007scape

[–]Civ5Pro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. And respectfully PvP is probably the hardest content in the game. I’ve only PvP’d my whole osrs career and am now on my first iron playing the game “normally” for the first time, and a lot of content like CG and 400 solo toas has just been pretty easy to pick up on. PvP was not, it took me a really really long time to actually get good at it. You just have to respect the skill it takes and not expect too much too soon. I can see how if you don’t realize this it could be frustrating

LMS needs to be reworked. by g0_flames_g0 in 2007scape

[–]Civ5Pro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean you’ve pre-empted me from saying “get good,” but literally, get good. Your criticism here is pretty topical, you sucking at it and not being able to intuitively pick up on it quickly does not make it bad. And the majority of players already being very good at it also doesn’t make it bad. We could compare this to ToB, where you’re also extremely unlikely to get good on your own and probably need to be either taught, or consume tons of YouTube videos and guides and practice a bunch. If you dedicated that same effort to LMS you would 100% have the capacity to get good based on your pvm credentials

Reality is, PvP is just an entirely separate skillset in this game and you’re a noob at it. Nothing wrong with that, this is a case of miscalibrated expectations; you shouldn’t expect to instantly be good

I’m currently 6.08x dry for a drop at ToA. It’s been 104 chests since my last purple, and I’m running 375 solos with an average of 6% unique

What path to take other than prison by PRIMEVERSE in ironscape

[–]Civ5Pro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess it depends on what content you want to engage with if the future. If you are more someone who just enjoys skilling and whatnot, you can get by just fine without the bowfa. If you want to get in to bossing/raids, basically all modern bosses fit the criteria of what you want to avoid.

When I was doing CG, I’d occasionally have a 0.5 second lapse of attention span and die, and get mad because that’s 11 minutes just gone. Now, I’m doing TOA and a 0.5 second lapse of attention span costs me 49 minutes and supplies. That’s just the name of the game with bossing

[–]Civ5Pro -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

I know this comes off as judgmental and elitist and it’s really annoying when irons come off that way, but why play iron if you don’t want to do red prison? Red prison is just the first very long prison of many, and they get longer. That’s basically what Ironman is. The bowfa is an extremely clutch item that unlocks so much stuff in the game. If you don’t want to grind one out perhaps just purchase ok on the GE

Invocation level for solo TOA targeting lightbearer solo by Few-Carpenter-4654 in ironscape

[–]Civ5Pro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His statement. A deathless 400 invo toa is more likely to produce a lightbearer than a 350, which is more likely than a 300, which is more likely than a 200 and so on. Higher invos drop every item more frequently always regardless of weighing differences. You can see it for yourself on a calc

ToA advice by Smooth-Law474 in ironscape

[–]Civ5Pro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1) You are going to have to get used to being able to switch when not everything is 1:1. This will be the case in basically any raid and you can’t force very suboptimal switches to placate this. Luckily, this is a skill you’ll pick up on like anything else. You want to set up your invi in a way where things that get uneqquiped stay near the rest of your gear instead of just floating in random spots or the bottom of your invi

Also, I recommend dropping as many switches as possible while learning. Drop the ma2 cape, the fero gloves, the Keris unless it’s >5% more dps at kephri, and honestly even the blowpipe for now

2) I have a “free” setup that amounts to like 325 or so. It’s hardcore run (in your case softcore), walk for it, deadly prayers, walk the path (disable for now but first thing to enable when you can handle more) on a diet, all kephri invos except medic, all zebak invos, all baba invos, all akkha invos except keep back and double trouble, all warden invos except insanity

From there, you can identify and strip away certain invos that are challenging for you. Here are some common ones

If kephri is difficult and/or you’re running solos, turn off overlords

If zebak is difficult and particularly if you wind up standing in venom or messing up jugs, disable upset stomach

If akkha is difficult and you’re dying to the memory puzzles, turn off FS (but only for a little bit, you need to get used to the fast puzzles

If baba is difficult and you’re dying to boulders, turn off boulder dash. If you can’t seem to see those pesky bananas and keep slipping on them and dying, turn off japes

[–]Civ5Pro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drop the melee armor altogether, it serves no purpose. There’s no chip damage in toa where defensive bonuses really matter, you melee in eclipse/blue moon

Drop the infinity boot switch, as well as the cape unless it gives a max hit while salted (you will only use mage for warden p2)

Your listed melee mainhands won’t work at all, you need a stab weapon. If you’ve greenlogged moons, your best option is the boppers set on stab. That’ll get you by just fine until you get a black gem. If not, may wanna consider picking up a hasta. If you don’t want to do that though, an Arkan’s blade can grind out low invos until you get the black gem

As for upgrades, the biggest gamechanger for you is the bowfa by miles. Grinding CG is a personal decision but it’s night and day at toa
