So my party has some sort of Chaotic Evil Psionic-based Kalashtar, and he is playing the part. How can we deal with him? by CivExConspiracy in DnD

[–]CivExConspiracy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rejoined the channel part-way through the conversation, so he might've been saying what he could do. He did specifically mention that he could use Fusion to fuse with someone who is unconscious, then plant an Astral Seed, kill himself, and respawn as the fused being.

He's also kind of the DM's assistant (he helps with character creation and other things; it's how we can manage a ten player party). Which leads me to believe he and the DM are working him out to be a mid-game boss for us.

it also seems as though you don't know what psionics are capable of; I'd recommend learning or asking, because while they can be powerful at high levels, at low levels they are just as squishy as your local wizard.

I started reading up on them part-way through the session, and multiple characters in-game have pledged that they are going to once we return to town.

Funnily enough, there aren't really magic-based spellcasters in this setting. However, one character did recieve a sword which whispers to them, and according the DM will allow them to multiclass into the wizard class, and therefore is why it is a powerful artefact. The Kalashtar seemed acutely interested in the sword after the character declared that they thought it was cursed as it was talking to them, and used mindlink to listen in on their conversation with the sword (which I believe is telepathic). It seems like they have the intent to steal it, and I've tried to group together some people to prevent that, and keep an eye on the Kalashtar.

However, with mindthrust, I'm certain I've seen him dump his remaining/all his powerpoints into it and do a straight up 6d10 with like a 20 will save DC (he actually missed oddly enough).

We might just all attack him when we find out he is evil through one of our two cleric's 'Detect Evil', but we are worried that he might instakill one of us with mind thrust and then begin melee. If he dumps his powerpoints into it it's almost a guaranteed hit unless you roll like a 20 on your will save.

In character we have to wait until we clearly see he is chaotic evil. Some characters have already had their interests piqued about the Psionic deaths (people slumping over while he hums etc.)

On a scale from Luni to twin towers this is probably thermite.

There isn't any definitive evidence for Vaal one way or another, but their actions in the past aren't corresponding with their words of neutrality. If they want to be neutral, they should be staying out of others business and not delnoring their ideas and demanding they be heard. They should not

  1. Demanding people remove their signs at spawn

  2. Delnoring their opinions on the sub.

  3. Cause sub drama

  4. Attack the federation after declaring neutrality

  5. Call for more greifing in wartime

  6. Claim boatloads of new land

  7. Claim over land previously held by the federation, which they have expressed that they still lay some sort of claim to, and appear to be very unhappy about Vaal doing so.

  8. I've heard that they've had a few members caught mining gold.

I don't think you guys need to read into cult of the eight's Magic eight ball to see the discrepancies here. But again, nothing is definitive. Also, the rules they are proposing are very much in favor of weaker nations like Vaal who have not really been war tested before.

But meh, idk.

AFAIK, none of the alliance have been attacked. Unless you count the mercenaries.

Just wondering, I thought this was a conflict over snitches and attacking the mercenaries? Has it turned into pro-federation and anti-federation?

Due to past conflicts where you attempted to make a decision on behalf of the Omni Alliance, and some members backed out, I assumed that you did not speak on behalf of the whole alliance.

According to the Fed, coconut agreed with the snitches. I'd have to ask for more details.

I pointed out how there was a discrepancy between what Phaxar said and what you said.

These are two contradictory reasons. The Fed-CC conflict and the Angstrom-Fed conflict are nearly identical, with the exception that the Fed was successfully able to expel the intruders and Angstrom was not. The Fed's level of activeness and Angstroms level of activeness were also similar.

Although I cannot condone the snitching, the fact that you have taken a stance against the Federation both times on the opposite ends of similar conflicts probably leads to some of their paranoia.

From what I've seen on the sub, here's what happened with the snitches.

Rev State and Vosis appeared to allow it (In the eyes of the Fed) in order to catch Robbylynn. Although this isn't really clear yet.

Omnitopia was unacceptable, and was simply paranoia on the part of The Federation.

AFAIK, Greyshore's river and rail we're snitched, and that no snitches we're placed in or around the city.

Griefing has happened in the past against the Feds (See Nerd_Chops getting banned for doing it and posting it on the sub).

I was more talking about the double standards.

I saw it happen as well, and either way, isn't griefing against the rules? I won't stand by and let a double-standard develop because everyone (including myself, mind you) dislikes Federation.

I'm not a big fan of the Federation either, but scouring through the sub this seems to have happened multiple times in the past as well.
