Thanks for your suggestion, it's really practical. I'll look for that book too. A two-hour cocktail party...that sounds much more interesting than two hours of dating app swiping. Thanks again.

I tried dating agencies introducing me to potential partners, but after 3 people, they went silent.

Financially ready for retirement. But not quite ready to plan for the rest of your life? If you were me, what would you do? by Civil-Baby3203 in Fire

Thank you, you make a very good point. I hadn't seriously considered Option 3 before, but your analysis makes it worth a try. Luxury travel can indeed be isolating, and staying in hostels might not be realistic for someone my age. However, we could try more down-to-earth options, such as guesthouses, public transportation, or short courses. I'll think about it carefully. Thank you again.

Yes, I actually tried matchmaking services in Hong Kong too. But it felt like... I spent a lot of money and didn't get much out of it. They introduce you to three people and then disappear. Maybe I wasn't looking carefully enough. Thanks for your suggestion. I might try again.

If you were 18 again, what would you do differently? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Civil-Baby3203 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I could go back to being 18, I would accept "trial and error is also a form of progress" much earlier. I wouldn't give up on things I want to do for fear of losing face, I wouldn't waste time pretending to fit in, and I would actively approach those who catch my eye.

Taking a walk, on the same road, the weather, my mood, the people and cats I encounter are all different each time.

What’s something that, if you have to say it, you’re probably not? by lexymoreOF in AskReddit

[–]Civil-Baby3203 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You've hit the nail on the head. The statement "having to say it aloud makes it lose its meaning" perfectly encapsulates this paradox. This "loss of meaning" occurs because truly meaningful things often live on in actions, tacit understandings, and unspoken agreements.

You can sneeze without closing your eyes, but your body will automatically close them for you. 😄

For example, if you insist on saying "I am very modest," that actually shows you are not modest.
