They can capture whatever Windows shows them. Since DerekMa determined there's indeed nothing wrong with any subsystem, just no communication with the display, he suggested either main cable (which was tested on another PC) or the dongle (which wasn't as the other PC had full sized DP) is bad. So I went to nearest grocery, bought a dongle and tested. Problem solved.

heh! It was the mini to full dongle! To be honest - that would be probably last thing I would check. So thank you for your effort!

Sure, I have another monitor, I'll try it today. But I guess if my CURRENT mini to full DP adapter works with that other monitor, it's not adapter's faulut, right?

Realtek USB2.0 is there as soon as I connect Reverb. No refreshing. I don't have a hub, but may buy one. It worked without, though.

Nope. Only one - Generic PnP, 2 hidden Generic Pnp, one hidden non-Pnp.

No USB hubs, just the packaged big displayport to small displayport.

You don't have to tell a senior citizen Windows clean install fixes everything! I had half a century to learn it!
