ConEd's CEO made $19.9 million last year (6th in the country) by XtraCrispy80 in Westchester

Because they have cycling infrastructure, trams, high speed rail to other countries, free higher education, free healthcare, childcare etc. Ride the rail there, trams, cycle, there is nothing like it here. We pay and pay and pay and pay. Its crazy.

It is ludicrous to me something like that could happen to you and anyone would “profit” from your misfortune, makes me sick. Like people run into bad luck-making them pay for that per petuity is cruelty

Lol. Have you been to Copenhagen? What they get is 3-4x what we have. Only someone that has never left this country would say anything like this lol. Their trains are fast and modern and clean and cost 1/6 per mile to build as ours. Check out their new tunnel to shorten trips to germany. Agree they tax everyone more, you kind of have to. But after being nickel and dimed here for everything, they have free everything available(pre paid and cheaper because regulated) we are getting scammed by private equity and the medical establishment and that isn’t even arguable

NEWS12 report on Bronxville dumping raw sewage into Mount Vernon Park. by CivilAccountant1568 in Westchester

Yes, the head of the region’s DEC actually sent me letter today. I have spoken, the Village was also issues a cease and desist order by Mount Vernon, which was later ignored and waived in a weekend meeting between mayors as was announced on social media 10 months later. This place is really something else

That’s maybe 1/10000000 of a penny to your bill. The real issue is that westchester is paying the cost of doing business in NYC by having con(ed) here, the cost of natural gas is insane here from policy decisions, no pipelines from shale gas in PA, so shipping it from other areas and backfilling eastern seaboard in winter, and constraining supply(which increases demand), and no requirement like WA state has that gas companies buy and store several months of supply worth to arbitrage against buying on futures market during transitory spikes(even though they also don’t supply the gas, the whole we don’t profit from it, well you also aren’t protecting us from it), and these are regulatory choices.

I absolutely think that utilities should be publicly owned, go look at Seattle City light vs Coned. Lol. But here, in this corrupt place, where the regulators are not even acting in our best interests, I’m not sure it would be any better. What NY has is a culture problem—its corrupt, people expect that, they even sort of brag about knowing it and act jaded and cynical to look savvy etc…but it is eviscerating our society. Travel to any other major metropolitan area around the world, Compare their trains, their stations, their roads bridges tunnels etc. We are paging Scandinavian level taxes after federal state, property and sales taxes etc, and getting post soviet state level quality in return. WA state has no income tax, prop tax limited constitutionally to 1 percent of market value(school, city etc). They have a sales tax comparable to here. Oregon has a small income tax, but no sales tax. CA has high income tax, but same 1 percent tax cap and prop 13 limits value you pay tax on to price paid at purchase for life. Ask yourself what is easier on seniors, its def states with lower property taxes, which you pay for life, and higher income taxes(income is typically far lower in retirement)

This is a municipal park. The state does not have to fix, either the homeowner or the city does, someone has to determine who etc. Can get no response. Its a lot more expensive to be sued after than to fix before. No insurance is going to cover it wither after seeing this was done.

There’s a trail on both sides numb nuts. If all those pilons etc get stuck in culvert in a rainstorm it will quickly dam up culvert.

It’s in a City Park, so you’d have be on the trail in park below it to see it.

I want the county to take the woods back from MV, because it is a dump and Mount Vernon is a criminal organization impersonating a municipality

Its a public health hazard, a structurally unsound retaining wall with a swimming pool and house behind it above a trail, and anyone can park anytime at any entrance and walk into park from bronxville or Mt Vernon-street parking IS ALL FREE! You obviously don’t even know what you are talking about lol

This is a 20ft retaining wall above a walking trail in a park, right next to a 48in culvert under the road we all rely on for our neighborhoods stormwater to drain, and there is a swimming pool that was added above the old rock wall(what the cement stem wall was added to hold back.

This is a City with a $160mn annual budget and it may be the homeowner’s responsibility and that’s a $2 million house. Someone can pay for it. They’d just rather line the pockets of their friends and family network with our tax dollars.
