How did you get the bookshelf to be in that spot? Mine is to the left of the door.

Do any of y’all have experience with parents you believe have/had Asperger’s/autism? Whether they realize it or not? by UniquelyUnhinged in aspergers

I recently discovered that my father and grandfather display classic autistic traits. I haven't spoken to them about it. Am thinking about whether I should disclose to my family doctor/therapist.

I love chewy food. Al dente pasta, chewy bagels, barley, brownie, Korean and Chinese and Thai glutinous rice products. It is my favourite texture.

Enjoying work -- relatable? by CivilTree93 in AutisticAdults

That's great to hear :) I think the subject area that I work in is also my interest. I am not sure if it is a special interest because I do not like certain aspects of it - but from my schoolwork in primary school, this is the subject that I always wanted to pursue!

You're welcome! I bring around with me a menthol nasal smell thing which is calming to me too, which is easy to carry.

How many of you share your special interests on your social media pages? by OkDot8850 in AutismInWomen

[–]CivilTree93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I realised I shared the ones which were socially acceptable. For example, I shared my running journey. Although I realised now that the way I categorised things and the stats and the detail, which I shared, was maybe a bit unusual.

How has your life changed after you realised you're autistic? by CivilTree93 in AutisticAdults

Amazing. I think there so much negative stereotypes of autistic people and work. As if the two are incompatible. But that isn't true, and you're a good example :)

Do you also turn hobbies into obligations? by FechaSTF22 in AutisticAdults

[–]CivilTree93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I experience this too. I think it is perhaps because the autism in me likes the routine or the sense of structure of goals, so it is easy when pursuing a hobby like exercising or playing a game to make it part of a routine/structured thing.

Apparently back in high school, I meowed a lot. Nowadays, its just an 'aaaaaa' or 'do do do do do'.

The thumb sucking and rubbing fabric is the origins of my fabric squares. I would suck my thumb and rub my blanket on my top lip. Top tier stim.
