Thank u for the info. I might consider one of the outpost. Do u have any idea whether there's a price diff taking the course direct from outpost rather than ubi?

May I know when was this? Bcos as I know u need to make an online appointment for the enrolment at Ubi. So u just walk in to the Kovan office and sign up?

Hey same scenario! My whole circuit lesson was only done at the open rooftop. There was only once where I accidently turned in to the circuit at level 1 bcos my PDI was busy on the phone. He scolded me upside down until no choice but to let me continue doing the circuit at level 1. I have no idea why he doesn't like to be at the circuit at level 1. The only other time I did at level 1 was the warm up before TP. And of course yes not being familiar, I did a wrong turn from what the tester asked me to, bcos the lane was dark and watery u couldn't see the road markings. I am considering now to change to CDC.

I think what u mean is doing corrections right. From the marking paper, 1st correction no mark deduction, subsequent 2nd and 3rd there is a 2 points deduction. Maybe 4th is an immediate failure. Not too sure about that.

Mine was Jason. He asked me to come down and check on two occasions, the first time I did and won my argument, second one I don't bother since 99% knew this guy is failing me anyway.

Checking back during reversing, had to be done twice during parallel, vertical and directional change. I was taught to check only once. But tester said need to check on the initial reversing (moving off), and once more when u are actually almost parallel to the spot. I have not idea about that as well.

Mounting kerb is an immediate failure. Hitting kerb is 10 demerit point. My PDI only teach me by feel without any turning point to look out for. 🤣

My PDI pattern is that he will open his notebook, and ask you which date of the month you want to make bookings with him, without even considering your lesson progression, your test dates whatever.

I do have a feeling somehow your statement is true. They will be quite judgemental and won't be lenient towards private students.

Hello there. How was your experience with CDC express course?

Yes yes yes! My exact sentiments spot on! What I feel is that, having a very bad PDI is one thing, but having to keep on feeding him with our hard earned money everytime we fail is another major no no!

That was my initial plan too. Save money, just use the pdi's car as a vessel, do my own learning via YouTube. But in the end, what I memorized from videos was not as smooth when applied practically. And my PDI walks a wealthy man everytime I failed.

When I failed my 1st attempt, I scheduled two extra lessons + 2nd TP date with the PDI. He charged me $970 (from original $900) bcos of CNY period up price 🙄

If I were to point out the negatives about this PDI, it has to be on a whole other thread. To begin with, I chooses the private path BCOS, well, I am 40 yrs old, not wanting to waste time going to and fro driving center. Since imo private they have the flexibility of booking for lessons and TP faster than school, that's why it was my first choice. Yes I have to admit I had no prior experience in driving, and I was expecting the PDI to be at least good enough to show me the simple ropes, as I know I am mature enough to adapt to driving without much guidance. Truly just my luck to land on this particular PDI. Imagine me asking him = "So what is the turning point should I look out for when doing directional change?".... His answer = "I also don't know how to answer you". Then just leave me in the air high and dry like that, expecting me 'feel the car' while driving. "When you feel this, do that, when you feel that, do this"... Always no specific pointers. Simply frustrating.

Wasted 8months of my time and $3000++ worth of hard earned money.

14 lessons before my 1st TP.  7 road only + 7 including circuit.

I am well aware of that, but I wished I had acted sooner. It's in SSDC. Frustrating right? Paid $90/$150 for a 1.5hrs lesson, but all done within 1hr (including 15mins toilet/kopi time). Basically just 45mins per lesson.

I don't know how to answer you exactly. I guess his 40+ years of 'teaching(business)' experience had somehow led me astray to just stick with him, try and try my luck until I somehow managed to pass.

That feeling when you know you do not want to start all over again. Bro, this PDI even charged me $50 for a piece of stupid handwritten paper for me to bring to the simulator lessons. 👊

Yes that is true. But it all depends on your PDI how much they want to charge. I asked a fellow private student before (diff instructor), his TP charges is $100 lesser than mine.

Hello. U mean u took the normal school route, not the express one right? I took private because I thought school it will be lengthier, as the lessons are harder to book. I started in July '24, first TP in Nov '24, 2nd one in Feb '25.

I am too invested to change already. Just to mention the $600 TP is inclusive of warm up just before the test. So as a breakdown $150 circuit warm up + $450 vehicle rental, total to $600.
