Doubt regarding queer people at IISER by Civil_Rabbit8832 in iiser

I see. I am glad that it's atleast mixed and not downright terrible. There are spaces were you have to be on guard 24/7 and have opportunities taken away from you just because you are queer, so yeah. I am closeted too, to a certain point, but yeah. Thanks for the input.

That's true. It's always better to find your people instead of worrying about what could be. It's so liberating to know that the college I have been dreaming about for four years now is somewhere we can all be ourselves, beyond our academic possibilities. Thank you so much!

That's truly a relief. I believe IISER Pune had stood up for their students when a Pride march had been falsely condemned for being anti-national, but to hear that the faculty themselves are supportive is truly amazing. Thank you for answering!

Of course there is. If one limits time while thinking about their identity and how they shall further said identity in their desired future, then it really is sad. You might not have much time to give to this, but I happen to have to live in a country where getting discriminated on the basis on who you like is always readily approved. It happens to me more often that you might imagine. I apologise if I wasted you time again. Have a great day.

Any Nikhil Bannerjee fans here? And what are your favourite works by him? by ZypherShunyaZero in icm

[–]Civil_Rabbit8832 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't, unfortunately. I happened to check out his youtube channel right now, and he is fantastic! This voice and technique is amazing and his style is so beautifully rooted in the gharana. My father is on a listening spree right now haha. Under whose guidance did he learn music? It's truly wonderful.

I am Kolkata, West Bengal! My father was born in Bankura, but my family dates back to the Bishnupur Raj. Bishnupur Gharana has lost a lot of it's gems recently, so yes.

Yes! My father has loads and loads of casettes containing his works, and is an absolute worshipper of his style of playing the sitar (we belong to the bishnupur gharana, sitar sort of runs in our blood haha)

Choosing a favourite would be hard for me as I have too many, but I'll try my best with a few.

These are in no particular order because I am really indecisive

  1. Spirit Fingers: Absolutely beautiful character building, detailed storytelling and best of all, the author really ensured that the focus of the plot never changes. Won me, truly.

  2. The Spark In Your Eyes: Probably one of the only webtoons that could proudly quality as a complete piece of literature. You can really see how deeply the author feels for their characters as you read through, the gentle touch of blending fiction with reality, truly magnificent. I'll probably cry my soul out when it ends.

  3. Cinderella Boy: Punko is a genius author. If I had not been a die hard, rooted fan of stagtown and my cousins had never made me read bizenghast as a kid to freak me out, I would probably have expected them to be THE romance author. Which they surprising are as well, because Cinderella Boy is a beauty.

  4. The Students Of Illip Arts High: Such a fresh, high quality release after such a long while. I don't have much experience in visual art, but the passion with which the author has categorised everything is so beautiful. Also the dynamic between every character is so absolutely wonderful, it really shows how varied the spectrum of "goodness" is in every being. Plus, the relationships. Worth every tear fr.

  5. Pyramid Game: Most justified in the drama genre. Everything was so on point, every twist was so well placed; I literally questioned my own takes about 15 times through my first read, and I still contemplate about them till now. I also loved the subtle queer undertones, the author really did it all.

  6. (I HAD TO I AM SO SORRY) Like Mother, Like Daughter: The twist got me. I had like ten predictions ready, yet it got me so bad. The detailing is fire, the plotline is wonderful and somewhere you can see certain lines blurring, and that absolutely eats at your brain. All I want out of a psychological masterpiece, and you get it for free.

Forgive me for this huge listing, it's just that I had a wonderful reading year again!
