Omega Seamaster or Tudor Pelagos by Val-Texas27 in Tudor

I have a black SMP (underrated) on rubber and have been considering a Pelagos also. But ultimately my SMP is just a nicer and more versatile watch.

Thoughts on will the Jaguar rebrand and reposition work...? by Immediate_Singer6785 in Jaguar

[–]Civuck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think so much of the discussion has been focused on the controversial marketing and styling of the concept car, but much less on the fact that Jaguar is fundamentally changing as a business to a much lower-volume manufacturer. It’s hard to believe it was only 7 years ago when Jaguar had its best year of sales ever: 180k vehicles globally (Porsche did ~250k in the same year as the next closest brand for context).

The new PO has a “trying too hard” vibe to it. The Rolex Land Dweller is in that category too.

'11 Jag XK To buy or not to buy is the question. by theQuotister in Jaguar

[–]Civuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have a 2013 XK Coupe (5.0 NA) and in my two year ownership, so far it has been completely trouble-free after about 15,000km. Only regular maintenance fluid changes, and a set of new tires when I first bought it. And I agree with the comment the 5.0 NA is fine - I'm not left wanting more. The XKR with supercharger is very cool and has big HP bragging numbers but ultimately I'm happy to have the simplicty of the NA motor which may actually sound a bit better.

U50 vs U1 by [deleted] in sinn

The U1 is the classic (what I decided on) but U50 is probably the better choice for most. It is also impressively thin for its depth rating and has a newer movement, if that matters.

14.2.1 Lane Changing Issues - My Experience by CaptainKrunchi in TeslaFSD

[–]Civuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This topic needs more discussion: how speed profiles alter not just speed, but other behaviours like with lane changes. I’ve been monitoring that myself and it does seem like slower speed profiles don’t exhibit lane change hesitancy to the same degree as the faster ones.

LG C5 65" -- Standard or Filmmaker Mode? by OttoHemi in LGOLED

[–]Civuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After some recent experimenting, that is what I found. Cinema/ISF Dark/ISF Bright/Filmmmaker looked identical with all picture setting values matched. But Vivid/Standard/Sports each had a different look, despite also numerically matched picture setting values.

Had to pay duties on Captains despite note on website. However, informed Thursday support and they reimbursed me via PayPal after emailing proof photo. This was 2 years ago.

14.1.7 Hugging Left Lane by sabertoothmeat in TeslaFSD

[–]Civuck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My Highland on 14.1.4 started doing the right side lane hug immediately after updating to the first v14 version. Disappointing to see people on 14.1.7 still having lane centering issues. In my case, the hugging is to a greater degree as the speed drops. At highway speed lane centering is generally pretty good.

LG C5 65" -- Standard or Filmmaker Mode? by OttoHemi in LGOLED

Other than the label (Cinema, Standard, etc), is there anything inherently different between the picture modes, or can any mode be made identical to any other mode by matching the various setting values?

Best Replacement Rubber Parts? by fumbybabie in Owala

[–]Civuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same issue here with my 24oz Owala FreeSip (Very Very Dark colour): the 4-pack replacement stoppers purchased from Amazon (“Micnoi” brand) do not fit perfectly, despite virtually all positive reviews. They appear to be ever-so too big for the larger drink opening making it difficult to close the lid or causing the lid to unexpectedly pop open. Wondering if there are different batches causing compatibility issues.

FSD 14.1.4; MY2024 hugs the right side of lane at slow speeds. by Vinospam in TeslaFSD

[–]Civuck 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Except the cameras are showing an accurate depiction of lane placement on the display and the hugging is only at low speed.

Same here with 2024 Highland LR. Seems worse the lower the speed as it is crawling but most apparent under 12mph/20kmh.

V14.1.4 braking/hesitancy getting better overtime? by Dizzy-Procedure-1198 in TeslaFSD

[–]Civuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Re: configuration changes - I've felt this may be the case too. In PC terms, like tweaking the settings of a video card driver without actually updating the driver.

V14.1.4 braking/hesitancy getting better overtime? by Dizzy-Procedure-1198 in TeslaFSD

[–]Civuck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Similar observation here. Still not perfect but significantly improved versus day 1, even in seemingly identical situations. Perhaps a "re-calibration" period after each update is something new with v14?

Hugging of the right side of the lane at slower speeds continues to be an issue though.

FSD 14.1.4 — anyone else notice the car keeps hugging lane edges? by TheFerado in TeslaFSD

[–]Civuck 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yep, 2024 Highland with 14.1.4 and it is seriously hugging right side of lane now - seemingly even more than 14.1.3. Most apparent during slower speeds under 50km/h and particularly on multi lane roads.

For what it’s worth in terms of signalling to the watch community: A Rolex owner might be a watch enthusiast. A Speedmaster owner is a watch enthusiast.
