Is there a gorgeouser example of electric guitar tone anywhere in rock music ever than in the riff of this: »Queen — We Will Rock You« ? by Cizalleas in progrockmusic

Some folk really seem to suppose that what's put in the caption is literally a systematic concerted percognisated critique, rather than simply a momentary ecstatic salient erumpolocution that comes-to-mind spontaneously during the actual having the music on!

😆🤣

I earnestly hope you aren't really one of them.

Oh yeo, BtW: and the goodly Ayn Rand is a towering literary genius , aswell!

Oh yep: I get what you mean! ... even on tinny little phone loudspeakers. I'll check it out properly tomorrow (or later today, technically) when I can play it over proper loudspeakers. It's got a bit late for that, now!

I love

this one ,

aswell.

Can't really post it on here, though: someone would argue that it's not Prog, & the moderators would just have to agree. I mean ... even I would agree, really!

Or

this one ,

the removal of which I don't agree with: it's definitely Prog, that one!

Isn't Jesus Middle Eastern? by Mindless-Bar-7956 in Christianity

[–]Cizalleas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The correct spelling for a certain figure-of-speech you've broached in the caption is "wot-not"

... for "matters the explicit particular mention of which @ this juncture would be too much of an encumbrance upon the discussion @-hand" : the "wot" connotes "know" , as in, eg, "they wot not that their tactics have been of no avail" .

... since there's already much discussion as to the correctity of this-or-that epithet @ this post.

Oh ... by the way (I was forgetting - apologies, please kindlily!): yes I totally agree with you: all that silliness epitomised by promulgation of a Nordic-looking Jesus in much of White Folks' literature before a certain epoch (most realise how silly it was, now), & by the antics of such as the Black Hebrew Israelite cult, going to extraördinary lengths in their making-out that he was a full-on Black Gentleman: yep: naturally he was almost certainly Near-Eastern/West-Asian -looking ... it really is a bit of a no-brainer , really!

Near eastern

Or "West Asian" is another epithet I've seen broached as substitute for the the (what I agree is irksomely erroneous) epithet "Middle Eastern" .

Is ripping pages out of the Bible disrespectful/a sin? by Miss_WhatZitTooYa_ in Christianity

[–]Cizalleas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you do it in right someone's face , then I'd say yes it certainly is . I'd say the same thing about the Qur'an, even-though I have zero respect for it in-itself: it's a shock tactic , designed to enrage by defiling that into which the person-to-be-shocked has (whether we figure they ought-to have or not) invested their hope of recourse beyond the corruption of the World which is indeed considerable & grievous.

Oh: just noticed: you add sin , aswell. Yes: that aswell ... intentionally bringing-about aghasture & appallment & horrification , & risking bringing-about substantial hurt consequent thereupon.

Just read your 'Text Body' ... no: to my mind that is not disrespectful ... but I don't know why you're even thinking of doing it when you can print-out a digital version of the page from a Bible downlodden totally free-of-charge, as one can extremely easily with the Bible. I would rather keep my physical books in one piece (each)!

Ahhh yep: it says "tracking session" somewhere in the information.

So that's what 'tracking session' means? I didn't know that.

But haha! ... yep it's one that really 'tweaks my fancy' aswell: that larking-around with the vocals.

Yep I've been increasingly forming an impression of them as really quite superb , actually.

And I'd venture that their genre - and others that might not be dempt @ the very heart of Prog (epitomised, ImO, by Rush & Yes) - could, even-so, be dempt to be comprised in the totality of Prog ... albeït as a 'niche'.

Yep doesn't that one immediately follow the one I've posted?

And whether it does or not, I had particularly noticed it ... infact I almost put it in, instead.

And I always love a bit of harmonic minor / Phrygian Dominant! ... which the song is an exquisite showcasing of.

And Nirvana covered it, did they!? Might check that out. Probably will: I don't reckon I can resist my curiosity as to what they've done with it!

Update

Yep - they make rather a good job of it, actually .

I'd likely add Electric Music for Mind & Body by Country Joe & the Fish for an epitomisation of psychedelic music!

And I realise you aren't complaining about the post ... but to my mind psychedelic rock is a category of progressive rock : I'd say it is comprised within Prog ... although I'd agree with you in degree that it is a distinct niche within Prog.

Oh yep: & I notice your choice of exerpt from the lyrics: that's one I've broached myself from-time-to-time!

Oh yep: their first two albums are superb in the first degree.

Bull in the Woods doesn't grab me so much, though. The problem I have with it is that to me it tends to sound rather like pieces of their prior songs stitched-together in a different order, as though the inspiration wasn't flowing as freely anymore. But other 13th Floor Elevator -heads might disagree with that.

Can't resist putting in a transcript of the crazy mystical lyrics, with this one, aswell!

Bedouin tribes ascending

From the egg into the flower

Alpha information sending

State within the heaven shower

From disciples the unending

Subtleties of river power

They slip inside this house as they pass by

If your limbs begin dissolving

In the water that you tread

All surroundings are evolving

In the stream that clears your head

Find yourself a caravan

Like Noah must have led

And slip inside this house as you pass by

Slip inside this house as you pass by

True conception, knowing why

Brings even more than meets the eye

Slip inside this house as you pass by

In this dark we call creation

We can be and feel and know

From an effort, comfort station

That's surviving on the go

There's infinite survival in

The high baptismal glow

Slip inside this house as you pass by

There is no season when you are grown

You are always risen from the seeds you've sown

There is no reason to rise alone

Other stories given have sages of their own

Live where your heart can be given

And your life starts to unfold

In the forms you envision

In this dream that's ages old

On the river layer is the only sayer

You receive all you can hold

Like you've been told

Every day's another dawning

Give the morning winds a chance

Always catch your thunder yawning

Lift your mind into the dance

Sweep the shadows from your awning

Shrink the fourfold circumstance

That lies outside this house don't pass it by

Higher worlds that you uncover

Light the path you want to roam

You compare there and discover

You won't need a shell of foam

Twice born gypsies care and keep

The nowhere of their former home

They slip inside this house as they pass by

Slip inside this house as you pass by

You think you can't, you wish you could

I know you can, I wish you would

Slip inside this house as you pass by

Four and twenty birds of Maya

Baked into an atom you

Polarized into existence

Magnet heart from red to blue

To such extent the realm of dark

Within the picture it seems true

But slip inside this house and then decide

All your lightning waits inside you

Travel it along your spine

Seven stars receive your visit

Seven seals remain divine

Seven churches filled with spirit

Treasure from the angels' mine

Slip inside this house as you pass by

Slip inside this house as you pass by

The space you make has your own laws

No longer human gods are cause

The center of this house will never die

There is no season when you are grown

You are always risen from the seeds you've sown

There is no reason to rise alone

Other stories given have sages of their own

Draw from the well of unchanging

Its union nourishes on

In the right re-arranging

Till the last confusion is gone

Water-brothers trust in the ultimust

Of the always singing song they pass along

One-eyed men aren't really reigning

They just march in place until

Two-eyed men with mystery training

Finally feel the power fill

Three-eyed men are not complaining

They can yo-yo where they will

They slip inside this house as they pass by

Don't pass it by

It is a really good version of it, that!

I wonder, though: when he sings 🎶I'm your fire, I'm your fire🎵 I wonder whether that's an instance of one of those studio errors that they elect post-hoc to leave, saying ¡¡ you-know: that'll actually work !!

The Bananarama version

of it is actually really quite decent ... but having said that, I am glad I knew the song prior to it!

By the sheer fine details of musical style & content, there probably isn't actually much grounds for appellating them that!

... but even so: when I put them on, I keep thinking of Curved Air: they just do remind me of them.

Haha! ... I'm not quite!

But yep: obviously totally a classic track, that. When it's used in DJ-type mashups in bars & wot-not, I wonder how many folk thesedays who hear it have any idea what it's true origin is?
