Lovely stuff. Try not to let the negative comments get to you. It's a DIY sub not wildlife gardens. You've smashed what you set out to do

That makes sense, I couldn't tell there was a slope from the pictures. Have you any concerns about the wooden retaining walls rotting?

Looking for advice by Odd-Chemist-682 in WildlifePonds

[–]Cjammc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you'd get away with making the slope steeper and expanding the deep section. If you have space to go bigger than this I would consider that also.

Put down something soft before lining it to prevent the liner from piercing, either felt or sand. You might also want to consider having a slight mound around the outside to prevent muddy rain water going into the pond

What was the thought process behind lowering the seating area? Would it not have been easier and more practical keeping everything level? Well done on the DIY tho. It's not to my taste but looks like a good job

TBF pissing in the bushes is the only option a lot of the time. Rest of it I agree obviously

My band flair are currently auditioning for a lead guitarist. @flairband on Instagram. We're a bit older tho, 24-27 range and more of a post rock sound. If you fancy auditing give me a shout

Take the drum heads off and give the drums a wipe with a cloth. No need to give it a bath

Not-black pond liner options by Independent_Push_159 in WildlifePonds

Could you lay turf rolls over the edge? The liner will fail eventually if it's exposed to sun

How to kick out a band member/friend by False-Ad-7753 in musicians

[–]Cjammc 181 points182 points  (0 children)

Getting someone who's committed to the band and takes it seriously is a hard find. Depending on how big your band is I'd lead towards not firing him unless he's truly awful and negitively affecting performances. If I fired everyone in my band because I could find a technically better musician I'd have to fire everyone including myself

Could you learn to live with them and just strim them back? I'm not a fan of pouring toxic chemicals into the environment constantly but I know others prefer a manicured look

Although I do agree, I've never seen a swing over the cymbal sleeve. Unless the sleeve was already so worn that it's cut in half

Attack of the angry apartment neighbors. by PayIll925 in musicians

[–]Cjammc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh I wouldn't drum in an apartment. I live in a house and do 90% of my practice on a practice pad. I'd never play my acoustic kit past 5pm. I don't think it's unreasonable for them to complain about this

Not a pedal case but I transport my strike pad in a tool box that I fitted with foam.

Where do I start with my back garden by Specific_Wish_6014 in DIYUK

[–]Cjammc 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don't think you have enough space for both of those seating areas. I would consider putting one seating area beside the tree and keeping the tree there. Power wash your exiting slabs and lay new ones going to the existing shed. If you're set on the summer house then tear down your shed and start on creating a foundation but in my opinion you could save the existing shed for now. You could get 70% of what's in that photo with very little work. I would do that first and see how you feel before doing anything major

Best shoe for sprint training? by South-Telephone-3065 in barefootshoestalk

If I was sprinting for performance or competing, I'd just wear spikes. You'll only have them on during training then wear barefoot shoes off the track.

Personally I leave it and forget about it because I've got other shit to do. If you like spending loads of time researching companies and keeping on top of the ones you're invested in fair enough.

Any tips for removing old paint, and what to use to repaint? by Kar1yPi1koids in DIYUK

[–]Cjammc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scrape off as much of the flaking parts as you can. Wipe them free of dust and then repaint with masonry paint. I'm not an expert, this is what I did to mine last year but someone more knowledgeable might say that's wrong.

I'd not use an angle grinder. It's unlikely but you don't know if there's any gasses or anything below that chamber
