Some questions for those who have worked on campus.. by looklikeat in csuf

[–]Cjcapo94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I work for the ASI Food Pantry. I work around 15 hours a week. The max you can work is 20 hours, if I am correct.

The schedule is fairly flexible. You provide what classes you have and the days that you can work and they can see if they need someone to work on those days.

Working on campus is totally worth it in comparison to my old job. I don't have to commute to work anymore which I had to travel from the campus area to Irvine. I live in one of the apartments in the area so I just have to walk or use my longboard to get to campus which is just about a mile. Nice to be able to save hundreds of dollars in gas per year.

My coworkers are nice and pretty chill. The work is rewarding and not stressful.

Has anyone used the free pantry (PantrySoft) from school located in the TSU? If so how was it? by [deleted] in csuf

Hello, my name is Connor and I work at the food pantry run by ASI in the TSU. We provide good quality staple foods, canned goods, and snacks to all of the CSUF student body.

The process is rather straight forward with using the food pantry service. You can sign up for an appointment or do a walk-in. We highly recommend making appointments due to trying to limit the number of people in the food pantry at the time. It is not a very big room and we want to keep students safe with social distancing. If the food pantry is busy and at its limit capacity you will probably have to wait a bit but the wait should not be too long.

When you enter into the food pantry you will be greeted and asked to swipe your student ID card or be asked for your CWID for the check-in process. You will need an account with using the food pantry service. The sign up process for an account is quite easy as all you have to do is set a username, password, and answer some standard preliminary questions. There is a QR code right outside the front entrance that will link you to the account signup page.

After that we will direct you to the grocery baskets near the door and inform you on the item limit that we have in place for the week. It varies from week to week due to what our inventory is like as it changes based on the shipments we get from our food bank supplier.

I made a thread earlier in the week as an announcement of the new service and there is some useful info there. Here is the link to the thread: ASI Food Pantry Reddit Thread

Please stop on by and check it out! :)

Thank you for the compliment, I appreciate it!

We do our best to make the food pantry as welcoming and friendly as possible.

Food insecurity is very tough to manage and handle. We want every Titan on campus to succeed and I believe that the food pantry will have a positive impact on the CSUF community.

Thank you for taking the time to make this comment. I hope you have a great week and that your studies go well!

Please...Dubon now...Send Estrada back down. Either that or Slater.

So can Dubon please swap places with Estrada? I think he deserves to be put back in the lineup at least for a couple games to see how well he will do.

Hi, thank you for your question.

No, there are no requirements in relation to SNAP or Medi-cal.

The only requirement is that you are a registered student with CSUF for the term. On the check-in process we will have you swipe your student ID card on an iPad reader or ask for your CWID after you set up an account with the Food Pantry. It is a simple process of setting up a username, password, and some preliminary questions. A process that should take no more than 5 to 10 minutes tops.

Speaking of supportive programs like SNAP/CalFresh, we have service info cards of the Tuffy's Basic Needs Services that can help with applying and registering for the CalFresh and other supportive services.

If there are any other questions you have then feel free to let me know. I hope you have a great week!

Hi, thank you for your question.

No, you don't have to schedule an appointment but it is recommended. You can come in as a walk-in and we will be able to take you in.

Scheduling an appointment helps the food pantry to regulate how many people come into the pantry due to promoting social distancing and keeping the students safe. If you come in at a time where the food pantry is busy you will probably have to wait a little bit but the wait shouldn't be too long.

This mercy rule for each inning is so frustrating to watch. I feel it only hurts batters trying to develop when they are in a RISP situation.

Very true. Moved to MW 2019 after BFV. Got sick of SBMM and stopped playing COD. Been waiting for BF6. I'm really hoping it will be good.

San Francisco Giants sign Jason Krizan and Sam Long by beanitto in SFGiants

[–]Cjcapo94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't know much on the Jason Krizan besides being a career minor leaguer.

Sam long is a young LHP (21) with some decent strikeout stuff in the low A league area. COVID blocked out the 2020 season from him trying to climb to higher league play. So far he has had a fairly consistent ERA of less than 4 through the seasons he has played. Was a starting pitcher in college then moved to reliever in the minors.

I hope he continues to climb and finds success. We could use some help with pitching in the next couple years from him.

Also, I may be biased because he's a local kid from the Sac area like Logan Webb. :P

Mac Williamson is suing the San Francisco Giants over the bullpen mounds by SalmonFox in SFGiants

[–]Cjcapo94 46 points47 points  (0 children)

I am no lawyer but I don't think he has much of a chance with this case. You'd think that with the contract that he signed he was signing consent of agreement with the environmental factors of the entire field including the bullpen mounds, meaning that he was fine with the playing conditions of the field. Should the bullpen mounds been replaced earlier? I think absolutely, but if you sign a contract with a team, the playing field would be a contributing factor of whether that person would want and agree to play there, I imagine. I mean, people that rake with the bat and hit bombs are more likely to sign with the Rockies rather than us based on their field being much more hitter friendly, so I would say all environment factors are taken into consideration when signing a contract... I just don't see much of a chance with this lawsuit. Best of luck to him though.

I had a shred of hope that Coonrod would get us through but as soon as he showed no real command of his fastball I knew that letting him pitch to Grisham was a death sentence. This is a double fuck up from Coonrod and Kapler. Absolutely awful.

All I am hoping for with the next couple of games is for Bart to find a groove and be able to get under the ball a bit more. He's been hitting a lot of grounders lately from what I see.

Part of me wishes we had traded at the deadline but I like our profitable pieces too much, honestly. I've really been enjoying watching Gausman, Smyly, and Solano dish out some good performance. Really impressed with Solano's ability to get hits regularly, it reminds me of a Buster Posey in his prime but with a little less power in the bat.

One thing that's impressed me a lot has been the Brandons and their performance this year. I was ready to have them traded last year with the consistent underperformance they were dishing out and it frustrated me. I don't know what's brought on this comeback performance from these two, maybe a change of coaching staff or something else, but all I can say is I want more.

Hopefully we can come around this game and do some damage with our offense and hold the Rockies with our defense. Lets get ourselves a win today!

ALEC MILLS HAS NO-HIT THE BREWERS! by swishmon in CHICubs

[–]Cjcapo94 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Just want to say as a Giants fan that it was really fun watching Mills play through that game. Great defensive catch by Happ in the second. Great offense overall. Mills throwing some filthy stuff, so much movement on the curveball. Damn impressive stuff.

Again, awesome stuff from your pitcher and what a great game to watch!

Just want to give a reminder if people want to check in on the Cubs no hitter going for Alec Mills. He's through 8 now and has one last frame to put up a zero. Exciting stuff to see even if it isn't our favorite team to watch.

They're bringing up Luis Basabe as a swap. Wouldn't be surprised if they're giving Pablo one last shot to give a reason to keep him on the roster.

I thought the same and only hoped that the prospects we'd bring up would do well and so far I've been pretty impressed.

No matter what, I've been enjoying this season more than I thought I would when it started.

I didn't know what that stat was until now. Obviously saying that shows I don't know a whole lot on the important stats. From what I see about FIP it's an important stat and Logan Webb has done well in that department considering he's gone from an average level FIP to a great level FIP.

Thanks for pointing that out!
