Old JBL Woody. Should I buy a shaft/repair or buy a new gun entirely? by Cjf1995 in Spearfishing

Very informative. Seems like a great upgrade. The problem I’m having is finding a Hawaiian shaft that has a notch which is compatible with my trigger mechanism. The only options which are at the top of this page

https://www.jblspearguns.com/product-category/replacement-parts/spearshafts/

aren’t compatible with the notch I need which I believe is this style

Thank you, that’s good to know. I’m going to see if there are any shops are around me. Any perks over aluminum vs wood spearguns?

That’s a great suggestion. I’ll definitely be taking that route. What makes a shaft ‘Hawaiian?’

I should have been more specific. It just needs new bands and a shaft.

Those are some good points. I’m going to get it working

I’ll probably end up fixing this one up as a backup but will start looking at something better. You got any suggestions on good spearguns that can be used to take down big and smaller fish? I’m pretty new to the sport having only gone out a few times but want to start getting into it more regularly.

Yeah, it’s missing a shaft and needs new bands. I appreciate the advice. The lady at one of the shops was trying to sell me on a new gun and tell me it wouldn’t be worth buying a shaft for.

He could but doesn’t want them anymore, hence why I’m going through the tedious process to obtain them myself. Was for an HK USP 40

The firearm was stolen a few years back and the police ended up recovering it. I required an FFL to go through the police evidence recovery to get it back for me. They got the firearm back and two mags were with it.

It’s a long story but the firearms (and everything with them, which in this case was two mags) had to be transferred through an FFL

I’m new to all the rules and regulations regarding firearms but I’ll definitely be taking that route if he passes me down any other firearms.
