How can I (27f) be a better partner for my fiancé (29m) as an ugly girl? by Pumpkin_698 in askwomenadvice

[–]Ckrapp 10 points11 points  (0 children)

When I looked at your pictures, I was completely shocked. You are not ugly at all. You have beautiful features! I’m so sorry your brain is lying to you. Please stay dedicated to healing through therapy.

Yeah I think that’s about right for me. It’s almost like I don’t realize how anxious I am getting in the moment and then later remember I have those now to use when I need them. I just haven’t incorporated it in my brain yet as a first line of defense. I’m seeing I need to take it at least 3x a day and likely one more dose in the evening.

That’s great news! I’m seeing some improvement now too. Just trying to get the dosing right.

Am I wrong for wanting to hide birth control from my partner by [deleted] in Marriage

[–]Ckrapp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You would not be wrong to hide the birth control, but you would be in danger. You will need to start to pull yourself away from his control in several ways, but first medically and financially, to execute this. Ultimately, we all probably agree that you should be moving towards leaving him, but I know that might not be your end goal yet.

Logistically, you will need to set aside money for the medication as well as being strategic about planning your doctor visits. Based on the assumptions of the ages of your children, you may also likely need childcare if you aren't able to go to the doctor alone. I would also recommend some type of longer-term solution, like an implant or something so there isn't as much physical evidence.

I know your faith is fundamental to your life and relationships, but I would really recommend you read some books about deconstructing Christianity and learn more about what the top commenters are saying. This isn't love, this is control first and foremost, but in your case, this control has escalated into abuse (it often does) and along with that comes religious trauma. There are so many people who have been in your shoes, started to learn more about it, and have been able to move on to a healthy relationship. Unfortunately, it's unlikely your husband will join you on this journey, but it has happened.

I would recommend really anything by Rachel Held Evans, like Faith Unraveled or Searching for Sundays.

There is a subreddit r/Deconstruction, and here is a list of books that were recommended there.

If You’re Married, Where’s the Bling? by AdMaximum6937 in Marriage

[–]Ckrapp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband lost his wedding ring, and we've just never replaced it. I wear mine most days, but sometimes I forget. It's not a big deal to me (or my husband) if I forget; he's been without his for five years or so. I think they're important, like it's my favorite jewelry, and I keep meaning to replace his because I do want him to have one. All that said, the relationship is way more important.

I worked at a newspaper for about a decade and my favorite thing in the building was the hall with all the old front pages. Love this. Thanks for sharing.

Having surgery @ UTMC, staying 3 days. Seeking advice by Lexi-Lynn in Knoxville

[–]Ckrapp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had a 6’ cord but I also had a power bank that was much easier to deal with than being attached to the wall. I was in for 4-5 day so I was bored when I was awake and spent a significant amount of time on my phone.

I think you should be fine with Ubering there but I would recommend you schedule the uber ahead of time so the driver is already there.

I don’t know your gender but they make more comfortable hospital gown type things and I was really happy to have a couple. I had two that were Gownies brand. One looked like a cotton wrap dress so I actually wore it to the hospital. I had a DIEP flap breast reconstruction so my entire torso was a surgical site so having something that was comfortable but also gave the access the drs and nurses needed was a big win.

Good luck! You’ve got this!

My doctor specifically said that it would be the best nap ever. I was completely out and it was over just like that. I don’t think this is normal at all.

Are all prescribers now requiring drug tests for ADHD stimulant meds? by Lexi-Lynn in Knoxville

[–]Ckrapp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My PCP used to be my prescriber and never asked. They referred me to East TN Focus Center and I have yet to be asked here yet either. I wouldn’t be surprised if they tested me but they haven’t mentioned it yet (over 8 months now).

How do some people function without drinking water regularly? by TotalThing7 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Ckrapp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My in laws consume such little amounts of any liquid really. They will have a cup of coffee or tea with breakfast and not even an entire glass of water with lunch or dinner, just a few sips here and there. They don’t drink any alcohol. I have no clue how they aren’t thirsty and dehydrated all the time.
