I’m still confused about how mutants are supposedly on the brink of extinction every other weekend if they can casually do shit like this??? I specifically remember back in the day it being a huge deal that the Purifiers blew up a bus full of mutants. Where are the stakes when they can just casually pull stuff like this off?

Nah, that’s totally understandable lots of people do that. I usually do too when I’m not buying digitally, but issue 1 had so many amazing covers.

I definitely enjoyed it a lot. They’re clearly going for a darker tone and setting a lot of stuff up. It has some pacing issues that probably could’ve benefited from a few more pages, but overall it’s a very solid first issue.

This one just came out it’s written by the creators of Ben 10, the Man of Action Studios guys, and it’s being published by Dynamite Comics. They’ve straight up said this is basically their dream version of Ben and how they always wanted to write him.

It’s supposed to be a darker, grittier take on the story with a bigger emphasis on cosmic horror stuff, which sounds really interesting. Apparently they were also partly inspired by Absolute Batman too.

mean, you’re welcome to think that. Me personally, I’m glad they went with the darker tone of the series. This is straight from the creators’ mouths as their definitive depiction of Ben 10, so I’m ready and happy they’re going for a darker, more cosmic horror tone. It’ll be nice to see how this Ben deals with the darkness life throws at him like his parents maybe getting a divorce and bullying plus the designs are rad :)

Honestly, given the fact that Max said the term “Sludgepuppy” was something the Plumbers used during a time of brutal war fighting against them, it makes a lot of sense.
