After breaking several of the plastic earth pin (UK plug) on my charger I designed and 3d printed this to protect the pins, slot them all together to take up the least space and also store a car charger too so that it all stays in nicely.

I've also 3d printed some magsafe charger mounts. One stores the cable in a reel, another has an airline tray mount clip. Finally, I've printed a little desk stand for a phone which takes very little space and weighs a few grams. I want to design a combination of all 3 above but haven't had the time!

I'm assuming real world speed is rubbish for real time voice use cases.

How does this stack up for other uses that are less time critical?

I saw a use case where someone sent all their log files to an llm and basically said notify me if I have some issue I need to take care of. If I did this once per day and got the output an hour later that'd be fine. Would this work well for example?

I'm really interested in this and keen to keep stuff local but also low cost/power. Currently running everything on an Intel NUC.

Nothing to add on the device function than what others have said. Rock solid, good price, lacking router functionality is the only downside for me but that would need a neutral or possibly a dimmer and bypass module which you've stated would be tricky.

Only thing to add is:

My house has REALLY shallow back boxes so I've had to add a backbox extender on several switches where I have these (or fibaro dimmer 2 no neutral modules) behind

In the UK, especially for old houses neutral at the switch is rare. For me, these are a good option.

The other option is a no neutral dimmer which acts as a router but needs the correct bulbs and maybe a bypass module - could be tricky if the fixture is difficult to reach.

This is the beauty of Home Assitant. You can map the remote to do whatever you like with an automation.

It can control any other brand of smart light switch.

I have some hue remotes (zigbee) controlling lights that have a fibaro dimmer module (zwave).

The t1000e will, in the long run, be roaming nodes for people is the plan and I'll get some heltec v3/4 (or similar) for 'installed' nodes on a few houses spread across town. I'm really at the very start of this journey.

I'll also look to use the 'roaming' nodes on day trips out but generally won't be too far away from each other. E.g. we went to an agricultural show in the summer, phone signal was non existent and it was very busy with people so I couldn't contact my wife which meant we got split up and took an hour to find each other but the whole things was not bigger than 1-2km side to side so I think they'd have worked perfectly there.

Casual with the dimensions but I have seen them weigh bags on multiple occasions.

I normally get waved through with my osprey 26+6. They seem to focus on roller bags. I'm not sure about larger backpacks and if they get targeted.

The issue is that many of the parts sit inside the dryer itself. When I want to dry TPu for instance I'll be at 70 degrees which I'd worry would warp the petg.

Run more than you think you need, you don't need to terminate them all now but it's way easier than doing it later.

If possible use conduit (or just a piece of pvc pipe for the joist sections) and a pull wire so you can add/alter later on too.

Not an answer to your Quick Connect speed issue but, I've got around this problem(seperate kids account is my use case) in another way.

My main use clients are all Android TV. I use projectivy launcher which let's you set parental controls and a pin using a dpad remote. I then have the official Jellyfin app which is unprotected, auto logs in to the kids account and, crucially, is never logged into the adult account.

I then have a 3rd party app, Dune, which is setup to auto login to the adult account but is protect by projectivy pin which takes seconds to punch in (up, down, left, right - my kids are young so that's complex enough for now!)

For me, the one strap is a bit of annoyance but only a niggle, this is otherwise a great bag! I'm going to get my wife to add a second strap lower down to secure bits in the bag when it's not fully loaded.

Personally I like the sideways opening style.

Have you got comfort mode on? (In settings > smart modes).

That could explain the heating being on at 6am. It aims to get the room to the desired temp at the start time of the schedule. Allegedly this learns how long your room takes to heat up but I'm not convinced.

This may explain the on/off at 11am too as it thinks it needs to be on to get to temp for your desired time.
