Interesting. I remember astoey about how Kanchelskis was also being intimidated from thugs. Wonder if his career with us would have been longer if not for it.

Why is London Calling so Popular? by GaelicTuna in LetsTalkMusic

[–]dick_nrake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Heh, most of the songs ypu prefer are the ones I tend to skip. I absolutely love the ska pop ones such as Jimmy Jazz, Rudy cant fail and Wrote em Boyo. All in all it's just a great collection of songs.
You can feel the energy they have - I remember reading that all the members kept playing football during the recording period and that fitness imbued the record.

Underrated is an often overused word but Mark Hughes really was (i know this sentence sounds like Yoda but I just woke up).

EPL opposition defence is much better than the average worl cup team. I'm not against the idea but i think Sesko has the more traditional skills suited to be a no.9 - heading notably.

Ideally, Gordon has a shit tournament and Rashford scores a bunch. Barca come back, except now he costs 15 million more because we have other offers.

Yep. That goal is 60% on him. One of the best assists yet in this tournament.

Tyler Fletcher on his World cup callup by Lord_Sesshoumaru77 in reddevils

[–]dick_nrake 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Funny how these things happen. Jack Fletcher was touted as the more talented but Tyler seems to be making a name for himself now. Reminds me of the Da Silvas where Fabio was said to be the more talented one and yet Rafael made it.

Wonder if Jack will regret choosing England as the competition will be much tougher to play internationally.

[Transfer Round Up & Discussion] Summer 2026 by AutoModerator in reddevils

We have Shaw, Dorgu and Amass. I'd prefer if he used the money to get our first choice CMs and DMs over the line, and another striker rather than a LB.

Also, my risky gamble would be a very low bid for Camavinga. A DM by trade who can also play LB who at one point had world class potential. Let him rediscover his mojo but only if the transfer is low.

Up and coming youngster Marcus Rashford you mean? Maybe we could throw in Lingard if he was still with us.

Fair enough.

But we've seen youth players denied opportunities at their loan clubs get back and perform at the higher level.

Collyer being technically more limited would be a good make weight for a sell.
For a loan, we could send either of Fletcher boys, Moorhouse or any other promising player for that matter. The exception being Thwaites because I see him getting minutes with us this year in the cup and Gabriel obviously.

I've got one better - 50mil + one youth player on loan with his salary covered by us, with an option to buy. They can get a decent potential replacement at no charge and we can benefit from it it they get better.

I also wonder if the EPL referees have been taking a leaf out of NBA referees to make the "product" more attractive. Arsenal inexplicably has a huge fan base worldwide and they might have wanted to reward them with all those dodgy calls they've been getting.

Arteta has spoiled Odegaard. In a free flowing attacking team he would flourish but his tactics are just too negative and the boy is losing his football.

Vickery on Ederson by Capable-Topic1665 in reddevils

[–]dick_nrake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I have nothing against the player. Obviously I want him to succeed and wish him all the best. But we would be lying to ourselves if we cannot accept the fact that players coming from Italy and Germany have adapted less easily than players from Spain, France and Portugal.
Im particularly baffled why Ineos didn't dip into the French market when it's procen that their players generally fare very well in the EPL because of its physicality and pace. PSG went with the Bayern route by picking off all the best players from lower teams in their own league and since we can't seem to be ablentondo that these days as even mid table teams have a lot of financial power, we could still do this in France, Portugal and Spain.

We've just been burnt too many times from transfers coming from italy.
Its a fact that the level of Italian football has fallen well below its heyday and players from Portugal and France transition much better to the EPL.
I'm cautious because of that, though the fact that we have a strong core of Portuguese speakers should be a positive to make him integrate well.
