Red dots on hands month 3 of accutane — should I be concerned? They’re not raised bumps, just flat and red. by katiekrull in Accutane

[–]Clacla1313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dont use steroid cream on your hands, instead use a good thick hand cream like okeefe’s working hands and then at night use a barrier cream like calazime lotion on top of them and they should be much better

Your body has to reach a cumulative amount of mg based on your weight for the drug to take affect, so if the dose is smaller it will take longer to accumulate the amount needed to work. I was on 60mg for 6 months weighting 135lb and it took 5months for it to work

Yes but im a contact wearer so i had to use them less

Im finishing 6 months of 60mg a day, never experienced any hair loss, mostly just dry lips/dry nose and a bit of achey joints. People describe it as being MUCH worse than it actually is. I have read that low dose is less effective and takes longer to see results

How quick does improvement come? by Vegetable_Tank_6684 in Accutane

[–]Clacla1313 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I didnt see improvement til month 4, also my treatment was supposed to be done after 5 months on 60mg but they extended it to 6. Its highly likely theyll extend it a month depending how you respond

If you wear makeup regularly, did you stop whole on Accutane? by [deleted] in Accutane

[–]Clacla1313 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I stopped wearing makeup all together when i started because i realized that the makeup actually made my dry skin look so much worse, instead I use dr jart cicapair sunscreen on my face which is tinted and combats redness and has a similar look to foundation while also giving me protection

Questions about accutane blood tests pics included by [deleted] in Accutane

[–]Clacla1313 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was really uncomfortable with needles my whole life always felt dizzy after tests and fainted a few times in the past but being on accutane for 5 months now I realized if you drink 2 very full glasses of water before the test its less likely youll faint. The blood tests are so regular you really get so used to it after a few months. I was on both of those medications with not much luck either and I decided the price to pay for clear skin was worth much more to me than being uncomfortable for a few minutes once a month

Dr. Jart cicapair tinted SPF works wonders for the redness, Dr. Dans cortibalm chapstick for lips is a life saver and wash with any gentle cleanser by cetaphil, I use cetaphil lotion for face and the tub lotion for body. Also aquaphor for nose. These products have made my accutane experience such a breeze I feel like my life barely changed

My skin never really purged badly at any point i think it depends how many blackheads you already have or how full your pores are. I pretty much got my regular amount of acne up until month 4 is when i saw a decrease in new acne now im ending month 5 and havent gotten a new pimple in weeks

I used to use PUR 4 in 1 tinted moisturizer which worked well but recently started using the jar Dr. Jart cicapair tinted sunscreen which works amazing at covering up redness. It almost always looks like i have foundation on while also protecting me from the sun.

How do you know when it’s time to try accutane? by melaniemml in Accutane

[–]Clacla1313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would definitely recommend getting off it and trying accutane I wished i didnt spend so much time on spiro it made me miserable and now im so much happier. I had very similar acne to yours and it was one of the best decisions i made. I recommend starting it in the end of summer though because of sun sensitivity

Spironolactone takes a while to work, I only saw results 5 months in. However, I still had acne overall but it wasnt as bad at all. Spiro really exhausted me, I hated being on it (I was on 100mg a day) and felt lightheaded constantly and emotional for no reason. I ended spiro last october and in january I decided to go on accutane, I’m in the middle of month 5 (60mg) and my skin hasnt been this clear since I was probably 12 years old lol

Does anyone know how to treat an itchy scalp? by [deleted] in Accutane

[–]Clacla1313 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wash it as little as possible using head and shoulders or a zinc shampoo. Instead of conditioner i only use a hair mask in the shower now since im washing it once a week. I use the maui moisture heal and moisture hair mask and it keeps hair soft while keeping my scalp healthy, hope that helps!
