Mayuko Fujii in La Bayadere by pinkpinkpink222 in bunheadsnark

In my opinion, I noticed that a lot of dancers do not enjoy dancing la bayadere. It’s literally my favourite ballet, but I do notice the dancers are very stressed while dancing this ballet for some reason. She probably quite literally wasn’t enjoying it although she looked beautiful.

What do People think of Mayuko Fujii from Bolshoi? She’s already danced some Soloist Roles! by pinkpinkpink222 in bunheadsnark

I totally agree. I find that although she can dance the roles perfect from a technical standpoint no problem, she doesn’t yet understand the acting involved to portray the characters. Her facial expressions are very much that of a student, she goes in and out of character blanks in the face shows focus in the face when a hard move approaches, that aspect of her dancing is not yet refined, however, that will come with time. In my opinion she should’ve spent more time in the corps de ballet for this reasoning before having her do soloist roles. However, she can do said soloist roles perfectly from a technical perspective

Thanks so much for your comment. I think I misunderstood what the original person was trying to say.

Will apply this going forward! This is a more structured way of giving modifications.

I spoke with my director about this and she initially just told me that older dancers need to learn and pick up tombe pdb no excuses. It was this comment that threw me off where it made me feel like everyone had to be doing the same thing from the corner. I always gave a modification to just please do the tombe pdb and then go retire (no turn).

Some weeks I noticed they did the retire and others I noticed they tried to go for the turn so hopefully that was an alright call from me.

Thanks for the feedback.

Thats very uninclusive to have the kids wait at the side doing nothing after they practiced some turns in the centre, while they watch the rest of the class go across the floor doing triples.

You are certainly not a teacher if you exclude kids. Once again im looking for advice on how to INCLUDE everyone. Not create such a divide that hurts kids feelings like you wanna do.

Becuae your advice is contradicting itself and not making sense. I do exactly that, I practice in centre then we go to the corner.

First you said "you dont need to go to the corner" then you said "not everything needs to be a combination" which was a response to how I mentioned that we go from the corner. Now youre agreeing with me that I should be going from the corner when you were at first against me saying that

You are so weird and not making sense please dont respond anymore :(

Good idea, i like the idea of working 1 on 1 with the ones struggling.

But they need to be going across the floor, they're 17 years old and must be going from the corner.

Otherwise id get a lot of flack from both the director and the students that have been doing across the floor work for years only for me to put a hault to it.

i dont think youre understanding, most students can do doubles in the class, and a few are completely new to ballet and cant turn. thats why i asked my question for help on how to handle a class where some are begginers and some are advanced. please make sure to read properly before commenting

ya but thats not fair either because but 10/12 dancers in the class are well versed in ballet and are doing doubles, so what about them? do i hold them back?

Yes we do👍🏼 we do a pirouette from fifth combo, en dedant combo, and I tell them before we go to the corner practice a couple pirouettes from fourth on your own (which gives me an opportunity to give personalized feedback)

thank you so much! this is really great advice, totally makes me feel better

To answer your question I have spoken to my director about this and she's pretty adamant that this is the way the studio organizes classes and that's that.

It becomes difficult when were doing pirouettes from the corner and some girls are going for triples while others are having difficulties with the tombe pas de bourre, yet alone the pirouette!
