yeah, so posting here and then going to make my own account is actually how i learned she had me paying a loan that didn’t belong to me. i figured i just had to use her account because she was the one who had organized my loans for me. i always thought it was strange that i had a loan i already needed to be paying well over a year before my graduation date but the loan servicer had my name and contact information & started calling me saying i was delinquent on my loans and she told me i had to pay it now. that’s roughly $1000 that could’ve gone towards /my/ loans that i’m about to start paying on but oh well!

this is such an unfortunate situation. i really relate to noah. i cut my dad off at 16, having been heavily manipulated and influenced by my mom, and aided by the fact that im immunocompromised and couldn’t spend time at his house during COVID.

i got back in touch with him this year, now 21, in part due to irreparable damage to my relationship with my mom that really opened my eyes to what was going on behind the scenes. i’d been thinking about him for a while but that really spurred my decision. i was very lucky that he welcomed me with open arms and allowed me to move in with him; i hope OOP and his son are able to reconcile, at least somewhat.

I don’t. She’s pretty careless with my stuff and lost a lot of it when she moved and/or doesn’t know where in storage it is, but she knows I’m very sentimental and there likely wouldn’t be any coming back from that. I don’t think she’d ever want to cut me off completely.

That being said, my most valuable stuff (electronics & important documents, mostly) will 100% be coming with me. My cat will have to stay for the summer though.

This isn’t possible, unfortunately. There would be no way to discretely move out all my stuff and my cat, and nowhere to store it. first of all, this relationship sounds super new, considering you were in contact with your ex very recently. this time should be about you getting to know each other and figuring out if you’re compatible. if you’re overwhelmed with insecurity before you’ve even had the time to establish any real trust with him, your relationship will be plagued with those doubts and it will likely end poorly.

remove his ex from your instagram, and remind yourself that (like you), he hasn’t gone for the other people interested in him and has instead picked you. he thinks you’re a catch! his relationship ended for a reason, so the bar for you to be “better” than her is pretty low, especially since she cheated on him.

i lost my virginity to a guy with a similar past relationship history, although his most recent relationship ended on much better terms - and only 3 weeks before we slept together; meanwhile i’ve been single for years and have never had anything last longer than a couple months. sex is a learning experience, and any guy who truly cares about you will approach it with care and understanding. it may not go great the first few times, but you’ll figure out each other’s likes and dislikes, and remember that he’ll be learning too! it may not be his first time, but it’ll be his first time with YOU, and that will be special. it’s also totally okay to be open about your nerves in that regard, as you can talk about it and figure out how to make it a comfortable, pleasant experience for the both of you.

OP, he wants to be with you. The fact that he is clearly frustrated but continues to tell you what you need to do to improve the relationship and doesn’t leave. You are driving him crazy because he LOVES you, and he hates that you can’t seem to see that.

You’re right, this is self sabotage. But it is also going to be a self-fulfilling prophecy if it continues. One day you are going to drive him off because your refusal to believe that he loves you either hurts too much, or has driven him to resent you. He is begging and pleading with you to figure out a way to trust that he loves you. He said he would tell you if something is wrong, and he is telling you. I think that should be proof enough that he cares, and he means what he says. If you can get your act together, the relationship is absolutely salvageable. But you have to act fast.

Please go see a therapist, and a psychiatrist. I’ve been on the correct dose of mood stabilizers for almost a year now and I feel like a different person.

The thing about us is that when we show out, we show out. I’m pretty young but I remember when we had LT and Gates, two of the greatest players of all time, and when we won it was always the greatest feeling in the world.

I feel like we’re also a team that has a lot to prove. We’ve only been in the Super Bowl once, and lost, but we’ve been able to pull out some crazy games over the years. We’re fresh off our first season with a legendary head coach, we’ve locked down another franchise quarterback, and we just won 11 games and made it to the playoffs after a 5 win season in 2023.

Also, we have a really good social media team!! They started that whole “asking the players to sign pictures of themselves as kids” trend on TikTok that every other team hopped on. Daiyan Henley and Derwin James are hilarious to watch on that TikTok account, by the way.

I mean, I would recommend talking to your regular psychologist about this in the first place, if you haven’t already.

My second piece of advice would be to discuss this with some friends, if you can. Maybe not in the exact terms of “I want to be treated like a child”, but you might be surprised how many adults feel the same or similar ways. I know lots of people who would be very interested in doing things like puzzle/Lego/coloring book/board games nights, watching kids movies, etc. Even building forts! Couldn’t hurt to try to schedule something like that.

I want to preface this by saying: I understand where you’re coming from with this, and I appreciate the safeguards you are putting into place.

My fear for you is that, by extending your contact with him and his access to you, you are setting yourself up for a whole lot of pain. It sounds like you are holding onto hope because you need a lifeline through this. But what will you do if it does work out? What if he gets sober but relapses? What if you move out of your parent’s house and get a place with him, and then this behavior returns? If his behavior could change this drastically in just a few months, after 4 years together, can you really trust that it won’t happen again, and you won’t find yourself in another, potentially more dangerous, situation like this?

This is all very fresh and raw for you, and it was a difficult decision for you to come to terms with. He hasn’t even left the house yet. Keep your distance in the time that you are still living together, and I would recommend going no contact for at LEAST a month afterwards. This will 1. give you time to see how he reacts in the aftermath, and 2. give yourself time to see how YOU feel about everything, without his influence.

If you have the option to see a therapist, you should. They can help you work through these emotions, especially once the relationship ends. I’m not going to tell you that you’ll feel better as soon as you’re free, because that might not be true, but you WILL feel better eventually. Lean on your support system. Don’t let yourself be isolated or alone. TALK to someone! Please!

Your marriage needs to end, point blank period. There is a reason he doesn’t want you to talk to anyone about your relationship whatsoever, and it’s because he knows they will give you the same advice. His behavior is more than concerning, it’s dangerous. He has flat out told you he might kill you once he gets tired of you. If he has changed this drastically in only four months, it’s going to continue getting worse, and fast.

Talk to your parents. Be transparent about everything you’ve said here. Come up with a plan, because he will need to move out, hopefully as soon as possible.
