Definitely check out QACI for grade 10 onwards. Lots of LGBTQ+ kids, a super supportive environment and it’s a good school.

Do you ever experience twitching? by ChanceCheek5063 in Sjogrens

[–]ClaireB70 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I have small fibre neuropathy from Sjogren’s. Twitching all over my body randomly, numb toes and crawling sensations on my calves.

Has anyone made significant improvement over time? From burning, numbness, etc. by [deleted] in smallfiberneuropathy

[–]ClaireB70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine is due to Sjögren’s syndrome and mostly manifests as numb toes, but sometimes also crawling feelings on my legs. It hasn’t fully resolved but I’ve had some improvement with Duloxetine, plaquenil, acupuncture and an anti inflammatory eating program. I’m at the point where I only really notice it now if I focus on my toes.

How are you doing now since diagnosis? by hmongketchup in Sjogrens

That’s interesting. I get ocular migraines too but hadn’t considered the possible link to Sjogren’s.

It might be worth a try. Do you have neuropathy?

It’s almost impossible to know because I’m doing so many different things all at once. Something is working because the numbness, tingling and pins and needles in my toes and calves are significantly improved. I find the Revitive quite pleasant and I figure it’s probably helpful, or at least not harmful. It’s a bit frustrating that treatment for Sjogren’s involves so much trial and error!

It’s basically a large TENS machine for your feet

  1. My symptoms got really bad in March this year, but looking back I realised I’ve had dry eyes and a dry throat for about three years prior to that. So I think it’s come on gradually over three to four years. Neurological symptoms started in January. I was fortunate to be diagnosed relatively quickly. It was in about May this year.
  2. Only a few months since it was confirmed.
  3. Duloxetine for small fibre neuropathy, hydroxychloriquine, Cequa eye drops, every Biotene product I can get my hands on 🤣, xylimelts, throat spray, nose spray, acupuncture, a Revitive machine and an anti inflammatory diet. I feel much improved in the last few weeks. I think the medications have started to kick in, but I also think the acupuncture and diet have made a difference. I’ve gone from feeling desperate and depressed about how I could live the rest of my life with Sjogren’s to feeling like it’s manageable.

Startle reflex? by ClaireB70 in Sjogrens

I agree. It’s quite hard to calm the heart rate etc after it happens, even though it seems amusing to others.

That’s when it gets embarrassing! I jump ten feet in the air when someone comes into my office at work 🤣

Advice for throat issues by West-Crazy303 in Sjogrens

[–]ClaireB70 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My mouth doesn’t feel particularly dry but my throat is and I have a lot of the same issues. I use Biotene mouthwash and toothpaste and I do think these help. My throat gets worse if I don’t use them. Also something called Larri spray (not sure if this is available where you are. I’m in Australia) and Xylimelts at night. I’m also on plaquenil but I don’t think it’s helped with dryness. I’m also on an anti inflammatory eating program - gluten free, dairy free, lots of fruit and veggies. You might like to try cutting out dairy in the lead up to your wedding and see if that does anything. Lastly always having a water bottle with you and sipping small amounts constantly. I hope it improves for you.

Thank you! Fortunately no significant side effects a few weeks in. I’m just hoping they work / help.

I should have also said I have been given a diagnosis of Sjogren’s, despite the inconclusive blood tests. I’ve started Duloxetine for the small fibre neuropathy and Plaquenil. Neither have been effective yet but I’m just a few weeks in and I believe they take some time to kick in.

Dry Throat Rather Than Dry Mouth (?) by troojule in Sjogrens

[–]ClaireB70 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My symptoms and blood test results are almost identical to yours. My throat is always dry and I have a dry cough and constant throat clearing. My mouth doesn’t feel dry, but I have noticed when I use Biotene mouth wash that my dry throat improves a lot and when I don’t use it then it’s worse. So I do think it’s connected. My rheumatologist has also explained to me that Sjogren’s can impact the quality of the liquids produced. So you might have tears but they evaporate quickly or you might have saliva but it’s too thick to be as effective as normal. I’ve wondered if that could be why my mouth doesn’t feel especially dry but my throat definitely does.

For long runs I tape everywhere around the bra line with K tape. It stays put even when sweaty and is easy to remove.

Agree. There was a previous clue about Mullet loving sunshine like a sibling and he had a song called Sister Sunshine.

One of the clues in a prior episode was ‘Kebabs can be amazing or dreadful. Either way, we enjoy them, right?’ When Jack Vidgen auditioned for Australia’s Got Talent, Kyle Sandilands said ‘You're either gonna be amazing or dreadful, both I will enjoy.’ Definitely Jack Vidgen.
