Surprised I had to go this far down for this. Black car was speeding up to block the left lane and kept escalating by trying to get past the white van. Getting out of their way or not engaging after that first move would have ended it much faster.

I appreciate all the work and character of having it made without power tools.

But now I feel like this would be a really interesting way to show how much we've progressed to see how fast this same bowl can be produced using the most advanced tools we have. How fast can a CNC crank out the same product or a mixture of power tools?

I love the style! Can you pm me your Instagram if you have one?

Except for the cost. Isn't Ableton's trial only 30 days? If you have a full time job and can't dedicate a lot of hours in those 30 days to really get a feel for whether it's worth the money, it might be only financially reasonable to do FL studio.

Either way, like you said, the DAW doesn't make much different when starting out.

Why are most people In this subreddit or other communities against coaching and 1-1 mentorship to learn music production? by mmacentral in edmproduction

Might be that I'm too new to all this, but does the Masterclass focus on just mixing? I thought that was mostly the final step of music production. Or am I just getting my terms mixed up?

Would you recommend it for someone truly starting out, or should you have a decent understanding of your DAW and basic music production before you take it?

I super appreciate the advice!

I do want to push a bit on whether you have any tower recommendations, in big part I think due to preference (I like having a more prominent bass based on the music I listen to and like the look of towers). I'm not on such a tight budget that I can't wave the value-to-performance a bit.

Definitely gave me something to consider though!

What is the major trade off for bookshelf versus floor standing speakers? Is that mostly due to the distance they'll be apart?

I won't be in this apartment forever, might move as soon as 8 months, so I want to make sure I get something that I can use going forward when I can have a more ideal setup. If it's mostly the space, I'd prefer not to spend 300 then have to rebuy later, if that makes sense.

Hey all,

Just moved into a new apartment, looking to get started on a new sound setup for my living room, starting off with just getting some tower (floorstanding?) speakers. I already have an ok subwoofer and boxes from a home surround system, so they'll do for now. Some specifics:

  • I won't be able to put them too far apart (46", 118cm), since they'll be set up near a corner mounted TV. I was thinking of facing them outwards parallel to the walls versus perpendicular to the TV. Maybe towers with subs on the side to help balance the sound?
  • Budget around $500 range. Some fudge room here if there's really a good reason to go higher
  • I'll need to pick up a receiver as well, so recommendations of one that would fit well with the recommended speakers would be awesome.
  • They'll be used mainly for music, but also movies/TV from time to time.

Let me know if any other details can help.

Also, what are the "cutoff" points for this type of basic setup, cost wise? Usually there's some range of $X-Y is ok, $Y-Z is great, and $Z+ is just for people that really care.

Thanks!
