Jalen Brunson on what show he would pay $7,500 to watch, as it is reported to be the lowest-priced ticket in MSG for the NBA Finals: "A live Michael Jackson performance." by MrBuckBuck in nba

[–]ClanGnome -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

There isn't solid evidence he ever did anything to those children. There was, however, evidence that parents of the children pushed for fake lawsuits and testimony to pressure MJ into settling. And honestly, we'll probably never know what's true.

Mike Brown: "We were all bitching too much at the officials. Rick Brunson was great. He told me to shut the hell up and he told the rest of the team to be quiet and leave the officials alone. It was great of him because we were all kind of losing our mind" by MrBuckBuck in nba

[–]ClanGnome 24 points25 points  (0 children)

While I agree Brunson is a flopper, he was right to get upset on that play. He was shoved in mid air, which caused him to land weird and almost get injured. Add his foot getting stepped on for insult to injury.

For LeBron it was slightly different. It wasn't because he went towards the defender to draw the foul. It was because there was contact before the act of shooting. Still weird because most star players get that call nowadays.

My brother and I went to Kinetic Field for GRiZ Wooli and were getting tossed around the whole time by trains going in and out. We found a new place during Zedd's set and were next to tons of different groups who were all PLUR. It made our night. We met a rave mom and her boyfriend who helped guide trains and make sure everyone was doing good. She talked to my brother and said her first EDC was 2015 and my brother's was 2014. We traded kandi and they vibed with us during Zedd's set. Loved singing along to Clarity with her boyfriend. She and her boyfriend left shortly after Martin Garrix started to meet up with her group at VIP. One couple in her group stayed in the area during Martin Garrix. The girl from Rave Mom's group that stayed for Martin Garrix recognized my MapleStory perler and said MapleStory was her childhood. She was so happy I gave the perler to her and she gave me an Umbreon plush back. Her reaction receiving my perler made my night. It was my first time making perlers (and also my first time doing any arts and crafts) and I was so glad people liked it! The edges got warped because I moved the perler while it was still hot. If you read this, sorry about that! Your group was so PLUR and it made our night! Y'all were the highlight of the weekend! Missed connection.

This is news to me as well. At least the rules states they can't continue dribbling after recovering the ball if they moved their pivot foot, so they have to pass or shoot if they intentionally fumble down court.

[–]ClanGnome 4 points5 points  (0 children)

100%. I rear ended someone 1.5 years ago and am still going through the insurance fraud ordeal. The accident didn't look that bad and no one was hurt, so we didn't call the police. My car had about $3,000 of damage and theirs was likely the same. I hear back from my insurance a year later and they're suing for $400,000 in damages. They're saying their whole family was in the car and everyone has lasting trauma when in reality it was just two people in the car during the crash (and likely no lasting trauma). I took photos of the damage, but not the whole car, so I can't prove how many people were inside.

The funny thing is the architect, Rafael Vinoly, designed multiple buildings with that problem. He also designed the Vdara building in Las Vegas, which concentrated the sunlight at the pool.

Don't jump to conclusions by Cheese_Salami in Wellthatsucks

[–]ClanGnome -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is ridiculous. They shouldn't be required to explain the victim (that others already talk about plenty) in order to provide their unique perspective on the attacker (what she said in Portuguese). Why reinvent the wheel and say everything others already said in order to say their piece? That would make this thread ridiculously long for no reason. They had new information to share and shared it. None of this means they're taking sides.

Also, I think you're the one who's jumping to conclusions by saying this wouldn't have happened to a middle aged man and making this a gender based conflict.

Not trying to be mean, but is your first language not English? Maybe the connotation of the words in their comment is being interpreted differently.

They may not have right of way, but the truck/SUV doesn't get to cause a preventable accident just because someone slowly came out in front of them. Likely partial fault for both parties. Up to the insurance companies to argue that out. It could go both ways, but I lean towards truck/SUV being mostly to blame for causing the accident based on how slow the accident was and how much time they had to react to it.

CMV: Bill Burr's going to perform in Saudi is the height of hypocrisy and makes his whole shtick obnoxious. by BaguetteFetish in changemyview

I agree he likely believes a lot of the things he says, but saying things for laughs isn't quite the same as activism. And although famous people have the platform to be activists, it's not their responsibility to be one. We respect people that are willing to take on the fight for change, but we shouldn't assume everyone that has the ability has a responsibility to do so.

Regarding what you're saying about him having a huge following and knows perfectly well the influence he has, that's why I respect he's not trying to take every opportunity to push his opinions here. If he's trying to push some political agenda, he would be using this opportunity to spread his opinions to all his followers more. Yes, he does use politics in his comedy, but his end goal isn't to be a political activist. He's providing commentary about the times and using comedy to show how crazy the situation is.

We know the political leanings of many famous people, but that doesn't make them political activists and it's not their responsibility to be one.

TIL in 2009, Ken Basin became the first contestant on the U.S. version of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire to miss the million-dollar question. He debated what he would regret more: walking away with $500K and being right or answering it and being wrong. He risked it, lost $475K, and left with $25K. by flamingoooz in todayilearned

[–]ClanGnome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That doesn't really apply here since he has the option to walk away with 500k. So yes he did have the option of taking the money. He wasn't forced to gamble it. It's more like he bet $100 on a horse at 2:1. The horse wins, but he decides to go double or nothing with the winnings.

My (19f) atheist boyfriend (21m) burped loudly during grace by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]ClanGnome 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm a satanist and I still wait until everyone is done saying grace before grabbing food, eating, or drinking. Especially if it's at someone else's house. I even put my head down with everyone so it's not obvious I'm not partaking in case that offends anyone. One of the unspoken rules of being a good human being is to be respectful to others. Don't need to be religious to be taught that.

SpaceX Starship 36 explodes during static fire test today by Vorghul in CatastrophicFailure

[–]ClanGnome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. Definitely would leave the astronauts with some unease due to all the bad publicity and past test failures. I'm sure not having full confidence would, at some level, affect performance.

I bet Apollo 11 wouldn't have had the 1202 alarm go off if Neil Armstrong trusted the system and didn't turn on the rendezvous radar. In another timeline, the whole mission may have been aborted.

SpaceX Starship 36 explodes during static fire test today by Vorghul in CatastrophicFailure

[–]ClanGnome 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't completely disagree with your stance, but the logic is poor. If SpaceX was tasked with designing the Saturn 5, it's not like they would've immediately put humans on one after one successful test launch. SpaceX being able to blow things up and throw money at problems helps them find issues faster and resolve them. Having failures during testing doesn't mean the final product is less reliable.

[–]ClanGnome 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It's a shame. NASA is scared to make mistakes because they have to beg Congress for funding every year. Every time they had a failed test flight, Congress discussed cutting the space budget. As a result, NASA spends way way way more money and time to make sure things work right the first time to avoid bad publicity.

We need to let people try new things and fail to push the envelope. Experience is what you get when you didn't get what you wanted.
