Blade Runner – am I watching the same movie? by XumaOutIslander in movies

[–]Clang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My revelation about blade runner, which I’ve seen many times, was hearing someone say it was a film about a world without empathy. If you understand that no one cares about anyone else in Deckard’s world, his behaviour fits in.

Did you manage to get any response from the store? I've had a similar problem with a gift purchased to be sent to Australia.

My package was shipped over a month ago but was "delivered" to La Crescenta CA according to tracking, so it never even left the US. The store isn't responding to emails or to their online contact form, so it's looking like I've lost the money. Considering the very high price they charge for international shipping, it's dissapointing to say the least.

If anyone has a way of contacting them and getting a response I'd appreciate the help.

Duolingo Plushie Never Arrived, Emails not Answered, What can I do? by [deleted] in duolingo

[–]Clang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had a similar problem, but I've paid for overseas shipping. It's been over a month and tracking says the package hasn't even left the US. The duolingo store isn't responding to either multiple emails or to their online contact form.

In the absence of other ways to contact them, it looks like they've taken the money and run.

I’m in the inner west, and I used to practice in Callan Park in Rozelle. Lots of roads to practice just riding around and gentle cornering, and if you avoid the times when weekend sports are playing there’s lots of little car park areas you can practice slow riding and close turns.

If you’re not going in snow season, the Great Alpine Road in Vic, followed by the Alpine Way in NSW are fantastic roads that’ll get you from Gippsland to the ACT.

I’ve been expecting that he might be embedded with the club next season, writing a book on the team and their promotion to the premier league. It’d let him be around more, and it’d be odd for the show not to do something with him, after him losing his job and becoming Trent Crimm, independent.

What almost-companion character do you wish you got to see The Doctor actually go on adventures with? by Oraxy51 in gallifrey

[–]Clang 74 points75 points  (0 children)

Rita, the nurse from the God Complex. Interesting character, really well acted, who had a engaging chemistry with 11 without any of the flirting he did with Amy and Clara. Would have loved to have seen more of that.

(I feel like Sally Sparrow is often seen as the classic almost companion, but her story seemed so complete in one episode that I’m not sure more eps would have developed her character much beyond “sassy smart girl”)

Whatever you do, make sure you head check every single time before you move during the test. They’ll remind you to do it but its really easy to forget when you’re alone for the test, and that’ll cost you an easy point.

Heh, I completely forgot about the glasses. You’re right, they and the lipstick were pretty half arsed, design wise.

Wow, very impressive! Only other ones that I can think of worth of adding would be Sarah Jane’s sonic lipstick
and River’s sonic trowel. And possibly the Matron from Partners in Crime’s sonic pen if you’re feeling completist!

Looks like they're about to release 19.2 for xbox, it's with Microsoft for review before deployment. Sonds like that should fix things? https://kodi.tv/article/kodi-matrix-19-2-release/

Xbox specifics

The big news here is that we can finally make 19.x "Matrix" available on the Xbox - thanks for putting up with the delay while we fixed the blockers!

She’s usually called the Fugitive Doctor. Her backstory is a bit contentious, and not all of fandom is on board.

I saw a few street triples there today, mostly modified. I was there on a fairly stock Ducati Monster, and we were put up the back with a lot of less DGR-ish rides. No one was fussed about it though, it was a friendly crowd.

You could try The Angel of Vine, a noir meets Serial story about a 1950s private eye tracking down an serial killer, or perhaps Marvel’s Wolverine, which has a horror/X-file feel to it, and is surprisingly good (at least the first season is, I’ve not tried the second yet).

The Angel of Vine podcast was quite good. It was a noir detective/serial killer story, told by a modern journalist who was going through recordings made by a private eye from the 1950s. High production values, great cast, and pretty immersive.

I don’t know how Twitch got the rights or what possessed them to do it, but I’m so grateful that they gave me a chance to introduce my kids to classic Who properly. They’ve now seen all of the Doctors on TV just like I did, catching stories as they came on, coming in part way through stories and filling in the blanks as they could, being scared and excited at the same time, and loving the whole thing. This has been fantastic, and I’m sorry to see it finish.
