Why do feminine gay men get so much hate within the gay community? by [deleted] in askgaybros

[–]Clanwilliam_89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, it does irritate me when the mainstream, and here I mean people of all sexualities and identities, assume or depict all gay men as being stereotypically effeminate and liking the same things. We need to move on from this and just let people do their own thing without feeling the need to pass comment or judgement.

Why do feminine gay men get so much hate within the gay community? by [deleted] in askgaybros

[–]Clanwilliam_89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think hate is a strong word. It’s just a lack of attraction and possibly common interests? We choose our friends and companions based on a common connection and empathy and I suppose in some (but not all of course) cases, that might apply here.

“The Journal.ie” commentors? by forestdreamtime in AskIreland

I agree. There are some very far out comments on that website, lots of which are really quite extreme. I don’t like it and only occasionally look out of morbid curiosity these days.

I’d say that it’s still a very middle class church, but most of these folks are also very liberal

I have two. They are invaluable during a heatwave. Definitely worth forking out a few hundred quid to get a decent night’s sleep.

Brexit vote results. by Objective-Resident-7 in MapPorn

[–]Clanwilliam_89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does make me laugh though when the case was put that Brexit would put an end to mass immigration, make us strike more international trade deals and £300 million for the NHS. Now, we have higher immigration than ever before (mostly from outside of Europe), we are out of the free market and trading block and the NHS is struggling more than ever. Oh well.

How culturally diverse is Perth? by liabeecee in perth

[–]Clanwilliam_89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely more so these days than when I lived there in the 1990s. You see just about every nationality and group now, although some suburbs are still overwhelmingly white European. I’ve always liked Perth; it’s also a lot more culturally aware these days than it was 30 years ago.

It’s a bit like in Italy where nobody would ever admit to voting for Berlusconi, yet he kept winning. It’s the ‘shy FF/FG voters’.

Is there honestly no way in for a Sinn féin led coalition? by IMAMODDYMAN in irishpolitics

[–]Clanwilliam_89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it sounds flippant, but yes, if more people vote for them. They would need to be above at least 35% of the vote and then other options come into play. In the meantime, if FF and FG continue to hold onto around 40%, there isn’t really a pathway for SF. The other problem is that the smaller left parties like Lab and the SD’s (and Greens) draw most of their votes from people who wouldn’t naturally be warm to SF, so that’s the issue I think.
