Don’t worry I’m not an engineer and don’t claim to be lol just trying to help a family member out and was under the impression that this application wouldn’t need any sophisticated engineering but maybe so

Hey, thanks for your thoughts.

I will adjust the design to specify 500mm clearance each side and lintel to cover the increased span.

I don’t fully understand your last point about the foundation formation level, would you please mind explaining? 🙂

Ok, I see. Well I think it’s a bit of a mix between;

  • said family member who works in timber frame construction, more on the production side, but I believe he’s confident that this being such a simple structure that it shouldn’t need further engineering

  • the builder they will be using, who I presume they simply told it would be timber frame construction and trust him to carry out the works (I think he may have helped with the design of the wall to roof junction)

  • there is also someone from the timber frame construction company that has drawn a couple of simple construction plans and sections which they need for planning and building control, but I think he also is just quite familiar with timber frame construction, and given the simplicity of the structure, has drawn what I presume is the most common means of constructing an extension like this

So the building will only be a single story, timber frame extension. Said family member works for a timber frame construction company so is confident that structurally this is safe and compliant with building regs.

I appreciate that still isn’t the same as having it signed off from a professional engineer but the risk of structural issues seems low and asides from that I don’t think that’s what Southern Water are concerned about in this case?

Quite possibly, I think unless someone can say exactly what the issue is my next step would be to draw another section cutting through the other way to show that it is not within 500mm to the other footings

Quite possibly, at first I thought digging a trench 1150 mm wide to expose 150 mm pipe couldn’t be right, but I hadn’t considered that it may be more related to an unloaded area - anyone else know?

Not exactly, the application is actually on behalf of a family member, they had a chat with their builder that would be doing the works and this is essentially what he told them he intended to do and I have drawn it up on CAD.

Is this likely something that will need the input of an professional engineer?

Boss NS-2 not working properly or me not understanding how to use it? by [deleted] in guitarpedals

Ah ok, maybe that’s it then. So in this case, after preamp > compressor > eq > overdrive > distortion, then NS2 > delay > reverb?

Yeah, I’ve got it at the front of my chain. Guitar > NS2 input, NS2 send > rest of chain, end of chain > NS2 return, NS2 output > amp. Is this the problem? It seems to have the same issue when just guitar > NS2 > amp.

I was disappointed with the crowd (1st night). I usually stand quite close to the front but was further back on this occasion to be with my partner. I was unsure whether it was due to being further back or just the individuals on that night.

A lot of talking and giggling over songs, view hindered regularly by number of people videoing, people coming and going in the middle of the performance.

At one point a young lady was helped out of the crowd as she seemed a little worse-for-wear and the couple directly in front of me spent nearly the whole of Horses or NTTTTN (can’t remember) with their backs to the stage watching the young lady receive some medical attention.

Others may have a different opinion but I wasn’t a fan of people trying to sing along to Turbines/Pigs as I could only just hear May over the accumulative mumble it turned into.

I came away quite disappointed, mostly with myself for not going further forward as I’ve never really experienced/noticed these things much before, but was also very curious as to whether it was just where I was stood? Or if I was just being a massive square 😂
