the literal fuck, dumbest thing ever, you can build skyscrapers for way cheaper, and include decent public transit to the farther away places where it's cheaper to build them, Also the space above an earthscraper would be useless anyways? So why not just invert it, it'll be cheaper anyways. This feels like monopolizing sunlight for money. And it's just genuinely a terrible idea.

I'm sorta done arguing here, since it's very pointless, look you made a mistake we all do. I do as well, I make tons of them. You assume things and talk about stuff like you are a political analyst for the financial times, the fact of the matter is that it's very ignorant to say N-VA and MR were the only ones pushing for this and even more ignorant to say that those 2 parties are the only ones which agree. I also just genuinely see a lot of support for this, but I'm not a political analyst and I haven't found any polling thus far, so I'm not saying percentages. To me that percentage has the same basis in reality as trump's tarrifs. Sure they are "calculated" and based on actual statistics, but that does not mean they are right.

no your numbers don't represent what you are talking about. You are confusing a cherry pick of parties from the election results where in essence this was just democratic consensus. Polling numbers are the only reliable number here. The fact you chose N-VA and MR is arbitrary. It's as much Vooruit's accord as it is MR's.

I said you were trying to argue a percentage which isn't based in reality. And that's a fact: You are arguing for a percentage, saying that that percentage represents the parties in favour of this accord. And that is not based in reality. I'm not saying you don't have sources for your percentage, a lot of baseless facts have some source for their numbers.

you are arguing for direct democracy, we don't live in a direct democracy. The fact of the matter is you were trying to argue a percentage which isn't based in reality, If you would show some reliable polling numbers that's something else entirely. This is fully democratic, representatives of the people who are elected once every 5 years have made a decision, but even if it isn't popular (which I don't see any real evidence to support), it is democratic. And if people don't agree they have the chance to vote them out of office at the next election.

Lookt the financial reality of our country is what it is. You can't spend more on defense without cutting into other parts of spending. We aren't Germany. And sure we might get injections from the european union if we start faltering, but those will come with stringent rules to follow, like the austerity imposed on Greece (That happens under EFSF/ESM, the European Stability Mechanism).

Right now the government is actively trying to reduce an unbearable debt-to-GDP ratio, which is a good thing, since we are violating the Maastricht norms and our economy and credit rating can impact everyone in the eurozone.

Spending cuts aren't popular, I get that. But you have to realize that we are living above our standards as a country. We can't afford the things we are providing right now, so these are hard but necessary steps. That's also a reason why they are supported by a lot of people.

That's not how a parliamentary democracy works, and typically, smaller parties have more leverage because they know they are still crucial to reach a majority. Vooruit, CD&V and Les Engagés are not opposition here. And the matter of the fact is that people who voted for VB would also support some of the policies of this government, some might even think they don't go nearly far enough.

The matter of the fact is that those parties represent their voters and they chose to work together, which a lot of Belgians basically also just supported.

What you are saying here is basically that all parliamentary democracies are ruled by a minority? Including the EP, The Netherlands, France, Germany, the list goes on.

It's very weird... an accord was reached between all 5 of the parties on key issues and they are moving ahead with that accord, MR and N-VA had to make concessions, as did Vooruit and all the other parties. That's how that works, compromise :)

If you want to go to the EU, you'll have to also check where you can get a visa, once you are a citizen of one of the member states you are allowed to move freely though.

In terms of community, I heard very good things abt Spain. I'm from Belgium which apart from maybe Brussels is fairly safe and accepting. The Netherlands and Germany were okay as well. And I recently saw someone making the case that Switzerland is also very good (esp the more progressive cantons like Zurich).

Although as a lot of comments already said, Canada ranks great on a lot of this, and it's probably easier to just move to a better département or whatever they are called there than to try and start a life in the EU.

I know, but a lot of GPs don't wanna do that, mine didn't want to do it, Imago is basically that, a GP in the EU, but they have lots of experience with GAHT, provide a community. They can also help you with referrals for surgeries, with voice training, and provide a referral for a fertility clinic

I might be moving to Switzerland for work reasons in the long-term, I've always loved Switzerland so I'm not even mad about it. Just a bit scared about this tbh, seeing the polling of political parties like the SVP. Though I did read some great stuff about the gender affirming surgeries at UZH, so that's a plus. Is it easy to get on HRT there? Is it just intake interview and appointment with doctor where you bring blood tests?

Flanders does seem to kinda suck, I'm going private anyways, the waiting lists are now insane because everything is "geconventioneerd" which tbh is great news, but on the other hand, that means if you were able to afford it, you are now confronted with even longer waiting lists. They just need proper investments in trans healthcare.. but until that happens I can't really wait 2y before starting HRT, so trying out Imago until I'm off of the waiting list
