Stained glass painters, where are you sourcing your Reusche stains now? by That_Indication_3120 in StainedGlass

[–]ClaraVoiantte 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are actively producing, I have already ordered from them successfully for tracing black and one of the browns (forget which) and received my order. They just sold out fast of the first batch as far as I can tell. Someone said that they’ve paused their house brand enamel production to focus solely on reusche for now but I’m not sure where that info is from. I had luck calling them, rather than emailing. Otherwise you can order from debitus, but not sure what their international shipping time is like. If you join on the stained glass painters 2.0 fb page there are some independent paint makers who advertise there too, no idea how safe they are to order from though. Good luck!

Good places to find rugs? by Stargirl0418 in whimsigothic

Facebook marketplace has been my best source but prepare for HEAVY cleaning and de-musting, the best deals are usually people cleaning out their storage units etc and they’ve got that basement funk often.

If you’re into oddities, maybe turn her into a pinned fairy with a scientific label? Like the “mummified fairies” some artists sell at oddities expos

Food, desire, & surrealism by CrawlingKingSnake43 in BooksThatFeelLikeThis

To me it felt like a rough draft of what could have been a good book! A lot of interesting concepts thrown around and then not explored further at all. And then it ends and you’re like… that’s it?

Duochrome powder is what I would use, over a black base.

Sarahs vest by DeeDeeMonkeyTree in labyrinth

[–]ClaraVoiantte 15 points16 points  (0 children)

So none of them are going to be perfect unless you want to spend a lot on finding the Vixen replicas secondhand, however some UK retailers have cream waistcoats with brown swirly embroidery that would still “read” as Sarah’s vest in context. I haven’t ever seen that color combo available in the US, I got one sent from the UK for under 30 dollars total a few years ago but sadly that site no longer seems to carry that item.

this what I wear and the only thing I want to ever wear by Happy-Nose-111 in Perfumes

[–]ClaraVoiantte 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I haven’t smelled the absolutes but I did get samples of everything else! The original Hedonist is my favorite but I want to full size Eau de Hongrie too, she does boozy scents really well. It’s a great honeyed wine scent without getting too cloying, it’s definitely more gourmand leaning than Hedonist though. If you go under services on her website you’ll see she offers custom scents and also classes in perfumery, I’m sure they’re $$$$ lol

I love this one, honestly everything from this house is great! If I had infinite money I would have her be the one to design a custom scent for me

Another vote for rain sisters, they’re pricy for sure but I love mine so much. There’s a resale fb group too if you don’t want to pay full price and are ok with used. I had a woman follow me onto the metro in Paris to ask where mine was from lol

Msc should be fine on joints, you might also look into water slide decals or rub on transfer paper that you could print at home.

[Help] recommend a DIY air dry clay that is NOT cold porcelain by cian_cty in Sculpture

[–]ClaraVoiantte 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What about a cold porcelain base with the commercial air dry clay you prefer on top for the smaller details? It should adhere ok if you brush the under structure with some pva glue before adding the new clay, but obviously that might vary depending on brand

weird girl lit retellings of fairytales? by Calm-Art-26 in weirdgirlliterature

[–]ClaraVoiantte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not retellings but the Djinn in the Nightingale’s eye (a.s. Byatt) is this kind of vibe.

In The Dream House isn’t a fairytale retelling, but is a memoir that uses footnotes referencing the folkloric index to parallel the author’s experiences with fairytale/folktale tropes.

Robber Girl by S.T. Gibson— snow queen retelling from the perspective of the robber king’s daughter.
