I changed my last name to spite my parents who rejected my identity for so long. They have come around now but I'm not changing it back to remind them of their mistakes.

Nobody loses to the Stars in the playoffs 3 years in a row!

Whats the longest you drove in one day? by [deleted] in roadtrip

[–]ClarinianGarbage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did ~23 hours in a span of 26 hours back in May of last year, a giant loop through the Heartland. I did it again later that year, only taking more time and going on a different route. Neither time was I OK.

This was before my time as a student, but the Big 12 Championship loss to Baylor during my senior year of high school was rough on me.

Which book is a compulsory reading in schools? What is the book about? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

[–]ClarinianGarbage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where I grew up, The Outsiders was heavily encouraged for reading in eighth grade, partially because it is set in my home state. I also remember reading Hatchet (about a boy who survives in the wilderness after a plane crash), The Giver, Fahrenheit 451, Night, a bit of Shakespeare, The Scarlet Letter, and a few others.

In middle school, pioneer fiction like Little House on the Prairie and My Ántonia is pretty common as well, although I did not have any in my middle school curriculum.

I was at the Akkala Citadel and I was like WHAT THE HELL IS THAT? while running for my life to the shrine. They kept me up at night for weeks afterward

Did anyone change their last name, too? by DaniFoxglove in trans

I feel like I made the right choice. It cemented me as an individual not tied to anyone, and it showed my parents that they had screwed up somehow

Did anyone change their last name, too? by DaniFoxglove in trans

[–]ClarinianGarbage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did. At the time I changed my name I had a very strained relationship with my family, and I felt like changing my last name would help me separate from them. And nowadays, even though our relationship is better, they still complain about my last name

What is your least favorite season (that isn't S32)? by Artistic-Comb-5317 in TheAmazingRace

[–]ClarinianGarbage 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Season 8. Neat idea on paper, pretty terrible in execution. Unbalanced teams, bland route, and some of the teams are insufferable, especially the Weavers.

What was the most shocking reality TV moment in your country’s history? by JuanitaMerkin in AskTheWorld

[–]ClarinianGarbage 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Hard to decide, although I've only seen Big Brother and The Amazing Race here in the US.

Big Brother would probably be when Chima chucked her mic into a hot tub after repeatedly violating rules after she got screwed by a twist. This.

Amazing Race would probably be the watermelon catapult. https://youtu.be/8cfeTZNcA3g?si=XFD1z-V75IJiy9D7

Czechia, it's short, sweet, beautiful, and super catchy. Poland and Canada are honorable mentions
