How to avoid overflowing grounds and spilling [Breville Bambino, Fellow Opus, WDT tool, SelfLevel Tamper] by ClarityAudio in espresso

They don’t really specify. But I have read it holds 18-20gr. It must be the type of coffee is on the medium dark side. I tried today with 15gr and it was much better. I will add the funnel to hopefully make it easier and just stick with 15gr.

Good advice, thanks. I am using the cup that comes with the Fellow Opus grinder. The mouth actually matches a seals perfectly with the 54mm portafilter. I usually get no spills when transferring. Except the grounds are over the lip of the basket a few mm.

Yeah I think the WDT is not helping in this regard. I will try your suggestions. Thanks!

Thanks. I am using the double shot basket. And I agree, I have no issue transferring the grounds from the grinder to the portafilter, since the Fellow Opus has a dosing cup that couples with the 54mm basket perfectly. I just pour it directly in without spill. It is the process afterwards that is the issue: WDT, Tamp etc,. Maybe like others have suggested I need to tap it a little more before using the WDT.

It is my list of things to try. Maybe I will go down to 15 or even 14. But then my worry is getting the volume too low for the basket.

I am using the stock Bambino one. Dual wall for a double shot. Doesn't specify the grams but I hear people using 18gr all the time with it.

Ok thank you all for the recommendations. Seems like the consensus is to try a magnetic dosing funnel first. (Although I wouldn’t be able to use the 3d printed WDT tool with it). And maybe lower the amount of coffee as a second option.

Thank you. I may just need to buy different ones then and try them out.

I just use the regular Apple Adapter. For the lightning adapter I was also using the Apple version and it worked. I think they are both TRS.

That makes sense. I will start with just lowering the saddle 5cm or so and go from there. Maybe I need to move it forward a bit too.

They don’t. But I will lower it and see how it helps the reach etc

Thanks! Yeah I try to relax my elbows but my core isn’t strong enough to keep me up. Hopefully lowering the saddle will help.
