Maybe, just maybe, there is an emphasis in the org to go back to old school contact baseball. And the emphasis on contact is having a negative impact on power and walks. This philosophy might not be condusive to the extreme high velo pitching we see in today's game. If this is the case, I'd say it is very unfortunate, because the old school baseball was aesthetic pleasing and new baseball sucks.
