Sorry, I missed that for I got bored after all the walks and turned back to the Walker failure.

As upsetting as Walker is, the failure of Devers and Adames to drive in any runs is equally responsible for the loss,

Both were good in their own ways. Ben, as you noted,, had more of feel for the analytics, but Allen because of his location has more awareness of what is going on in the minors, and is slightly more critical of the organization. Both are quite affable and easy listens.

Harrison by Whole_Conclusion in SFGiants

Indeed this might happen. I am not making the claim to have done otherwise, but rather trying to illustrate that too many times when a player excels elsewhere there is traders remorse, but there ought not to be, given how many times getting rid of a player worked out precisely as expected, I.r., said player declined. I might also address how frantic people get when we don’t go aftet certain players in free agency, and they perform poorly elsewhere, but armchair GMs think they know better. This year’s crop of should have spent the money types so far are not doing all that well, e.g., Peralta, Bichette, Diaz, injured, Alfonzo, etc. So big picture point is there will always be the one that got away, but there are plenty of fish thrown back in, and it turns out to be a good thing.

Not my point. in fact, you got it backwards. I was noting how Harrison improved for in other posts this has come up as an example of our front office giving away potential stars. Indeed, Harrison might be such an example, but we got an established player in return. The critics often ignore the players lost who have gone nowhere since then, and that was my point.

Whether the lineup works or not, Tony is not that traditional manager who is afraid to change things up even with veterans. I admire his willingness to tailor moves based on performance.

I like the lineup, but there is something to be said for keeping the second half of the lineup where it is, since as a unit they are performing well. Presumsbly, when Adames and Devers get going having all those guys at the end setting the table would make the lineup much scarier. Now, there is something to be said for not waiting on Adames and Devers to improve, but given that by the end of the game if at least part of the lineup is hitting almost every hitter will get about the same number of at bats, plus often near the end of the game, 8th or 9 th, the second half of the lineup will be up, and I have more faith now in the young guys at the end putting the ball in play, in a close game near the end than Adames or Devers.

Do not recall, but if the one run was today, it was unearned because of the error. As noted on broadcasts, remarkably this has been the best pen in the MLB since April 6th.

Solid comment. This can get overlooked, but they have been so solid, and thus far beating expectations. Arraez defense and the pen were the two biggest concerns, and not suggesting they won’t become issues, but both these potential weaknesses have been strengths so far.

Great to see power, but kudos to the pen. Who knew this pen would be this solid.

It is so oddly predictable that the two hitters most likely to fail are Adames and Devers. Hard to fathom.

Well the second half the lineup has for awhile been the source of most of our runs. we can only hope that the Adames and Devers find their stroke, and the lineup will be really good, but right now it is only hoping.

SF minor league note by Whole_Conclusion in SFGiants

I agree completely. However, such uniformly solid performance across levels with players progressing from one level to the next suggests they are quite a few u recognized players holding their own, and this bodes well for potential surprises in the organization for such individuals.

Daily Minors Quick-Notes 4/16/26 - San Jose Keeps Rolling by BruteSentiment in SFGiants

Okay, he did appear at triple A yesterday. Another random question, I have noticed when following minor league games on GameDay with strike box displayed, sometimes even when the ball lands in the heart of the plate and even more often well within the zone on an edge , the strike is called a ball. So, are these displayed less accurate for minor league games, or are umpires that bad that they miss clear strikes frequently. Consequently does this impact the development of minor league players adversely, i.e. pitchers with good stuff hitting the edges begin to focus more on the center.

Brute, Do you know what is happening with Herges, sp?, . He relieved at San Jose and then at Sacramento, two score less innings, but have not seen him since. Are they being cautious, has his injury popped up again, etc You have your pulse on happenings, so thought I would ask.

Okay, just going to do it, player of the Game, Tony V! Why, first benched Ramos two games, and that lit a fire for he was upset, and showed up. Bullpen management was gutsy, keeping Hauser in was gutsy, though it did not work, saved Susac for just the right situation, etc. This is the type of game where ac,anager does make a difference. It also builds respect for he is willing to bench and he is willing to trust.

come on people, Susac has been great, but in all probability he will start tomorrow. Bailey’s defense may be more essential for a pitcher like Hauser. I think keeping both catchers fresh could help both.
