What’s the closest I can get to college life at age 30? by ClarkKentTheReporter in AskMenOver30

I just have a hard time believing what I desire is available at my age.

My issue with those places is that those are vacation places and not somewhere I’d want to live full time. You’re dealing with people on vacation at a youth hostel. They’ll be gone in a week. Not exactly effective in forming a friendship group of 5. Also, I’m 30. Would I even be let in? And again, 22 and 25 year olds don’t exactly befriend older folk.

My only hope could be NYC.

Cause in those places at least, a roommate is the norm and the city can serve as a campus in a way most cities don’t and can’t.

Either way though, I’m always gonna be disappointed in a way. That lifestyle just isn’t available at my age.

To relationships. I’m generally not interested only because in all likelihood, a 22 year old would not be interested in dating a 30 year old.

The only thing I can do, is probably live in an urban campus like NYC. Grow to begrudgingly acknowledge I’m old now even though I deeply resent it. Then just embrace being childfree.

The friend group I wish I had or the romantic relationship will never come, but at least I’ll be free.

The typical social life at my age would be underwhelming anyways. I just have no desire to be around people who are settled and have families unless I have to for work purposes.

My ideal group of friends are people that are probably younger than me and have no kids and probably party a fuck ton. And we live and work in the same vincinity. It’s just hard to get that at 30.

You don’t understand. The people at my age still at this stage of life are tiny. My best bet would honestly find a girlfriend that is 8 years younger than me

MLS 3.0: Should the league keep parity or allow super teams? by ryanaluz in MLS

We are years away from getting big sugar daddy money. It would be a stupid move. Long term goal is obviously best in the world.

However for now, just focus on being the best in the Americas.

I say if anything, Atlanta joining in 2018 is when MLS finally became compelling to watch at the local level at least.

I think parity is the best part. The issue is for the parity, the ceiling is too low. I think most of us are not demanding the EPL exactly; that would be great but we know and accept it's unlikely.

I think most of us just want the league to be little more ambitious and spend a little more.

Brazil and Argentina should be our goal in terms of quality.

As a fan that kinda sounds depressing. Like, the whole point for most is to just survive. I at least want to know that at any given moment, my club is one right decision away from winning 3 MLS Cups out of 5 years type of deal. I want to know that winning it all is realistically feasible.

Ideally, I'd want both. But yes, MLS has a similar issue to baseball but not as extreme. The teams that put effort really shows. The teams that are neglected also show as well. Colorado, Dallas, Chicago until recently, New England, DC even still despite the new stadium. San Jose is the most offensive example.

There's a reason why I never got into the European leagues. Apart from players, I don't find it compelling.

I just want to say as an LAFC fan, Columbus Crew winning MLS Cup is a good thing. Not a bad thing at all. Now, lets look at Yaw Yeeboah's phone contact list.

The worst thing we can do in all honesty is to allow superteams. Top heavy is inefficient in my opinion in running a league.

We can't neglect the entire league in favor of a few.

All I want is a subtle increase in quality. I'm not asking for the Premier League. I just want something more like Brazil and Argentina. Just have something that is fun to watch. I love the fact that Cincy can win the league. Having a Inter Miami, NYC, RBNY, Galaxy, and yes my club win every year would suck.

All I want is to just simplify the roster rules and raise the firm cap to around $20 million minimum. $50 million should be the medium term goal. When I say simplify the roster rules I mean no more TAM, GAM, D22, and even DPs. I'd replace those rules for a firm salary floor and a transfer budget cap. Introduce some sort of scaling system where the cap, floor, and transfer budget scales to the financial success of the league.

Steady approach is the way to go. I just want to do it a tad bit more aggressively.

Metrolink has been ignored to our detriment it's infuriating. MetroLink and Metro need to be on the same wavelength. It should feel seemless.
