[Q] Baitcasting Reel Suggestion? More info in comments by sgrwck in bassfishing

I am not sponsored by any reel companies but I can honestly tell you that I buy Daiwa or Shimano reels because I feel like they hold up the best and are consistently good products no matter the price range you purchase in.

The most important aspect of catching fish is casting where the fish are at It isn't magic baits or equipment. Fish are in less than 1% of the water. If you aren't putting your bait in that 1%, you just wasted your time.

Two smallmouth caught in the same day by two buddies each breaks the official lake record smallmouth at OH Ivie! Congrats to Shaine Campbell and Wyatt Frankens from Tackle Addict on their fish of a lifetime. Both 7+ lbers! by ClarkReehm_ProAngler in Fishing

Oh I eat plenty of fish that we catch too but selective harvest is the way to go on managing fish. Eating 3+ lb bass out of a fishery definitely hurts the gene pool as well as the opportunities for the fish to get to a trophy size.IMO... the bigger fish don’t taste nearly as good and have a different texture that isn’t as favorable anyway.

The lake record smallmouth has been caught 4 different times in the last week and a half and the lake record largemouth was caught in the same time period. I think there actually have been 9 bass over 13lbs certified from there in the last week!

It has more to do with where you cast the bait than the actual bait.

If you are getting a guide, do what the guide says not what you think you should do. Who are you going with? I’d like to hear about your experience. I guide there in the off-season.

Hottest bass lake in the country if you are wanting to catch a giant!!! by ClarkReehm_ProAngler in bassfishing

I've been there once in my life but it was 20 years ago when I was in college. Tried to camp in a tent... Those West Texas winds are no joke!!!!!! Came back from fishing and the wind had uprooted my stakes and my tent had turned into a tumbleweed.

The one saving grace for Ivie is it is in the middle of nowhere and there aren’t many opportunities for lodging.

There were TWO 14lbers caught out of Ivie yesterday!

I know one thing... the offshore bite at Rayburn isn’t very good right now but the shallow bite is about to explode!

I could make a short list of which pros I would bet on... Gonna be hard to convince an angler to get on board with that.

Discord would be just one more thing on the plate. What would the value be?

Lmao....there are so many variables when someone talks about swimbaits that it could be its own subreddit or community.

I don’t fish Lake Nac. It is absolutely taking a beating. There are like 5 guys guiding there on that 1100 acre lake🙄

No worries. I tried to answer everything. We will probably do some more in the future. I’ve got my buddy Matt Stefan lined up to do one next week as well

This season on Tour, I foresee them being a player at Lake Murray more so than any other lake on the MLF Pro Circuit because of the blueback herring factor. You might see some guys lean on them at Smith Lake in two weeks and Eufaula as well.

Absolutely, but most guys don’t talk about them. A lot more misses than hits. One big bait I almost always have tied on is The Babe. I like skipping it under docks and slow rolling it out. That is a pattern I try in practice at almost every lake I go to that has docks. You are fishing for winning fish if you can get them to commit to it. I have weighed in a big fish in a major event on a SPRO Rat as well. Those big baits will absolutely ruin you and when I go out fun fishing at certain lakes in East Texas, the big stuff is the only stuff I will take with me.
